Like other car makers in India, Tata Motors is also waiting for January 1st 2017 to hike prices of its popular cars. The reason for this price hike is predictable – increase in input costs. The price hike announcement however is meant to push more buyers into Tata dealerships during December – a lean period for car buying. To make things even more attractive, Tata Motors is also offering attractive discounts of up to Rs. 1 lakh to buyers who book a Tata car during December. The exact quantum of price hike has not been revealed.
Mayank Pareek, who is the President of Passenger Vehicle Business at Tata Motors said,
The changing market conditions, rising input costs and various external economic factors have compelled us to consider the price increase. We are optimistic on maintaining our growth trajectory in the coming year on the back of our robust product portfolio like Tiago, Hexa, Tigor and the recently launched Nexon.
So, if you want a Tata car at an attractive price tag, the best time to purchase is now, as attractive discounts and booking schemes are also on offer. Moreover, if you intend to keep the car for 5-7 years, you need not worry about buying a car in December.
Tata has had a very good 2018. Sales are a multi-year high, as the Tiago and Nexon are bringing in the big numbers. The Tigor and the Hexa are also doing reasonably fine, and Tata has just pushed Mahindra out of third place in sales for November 2017. 2018 promises to be quite exciting for Tata as two highly anticipated cars will be launched.
One will be the X451 code-named premium hatchback that will challenge the Maruti Baleno and Hyundai i20 Elite. The other will be the Q501 code-named 5 seat SUV that is expected to take on the Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster. Tata will also launch AMT variants of the Nexon, in both petrol and diesel forms.
