Tata Nexon EV will be launched in the Indian market by the end of this month. The manufacturer will launch its first-ever electric SUV in the Indian market in the coming times. Since it is a Tata product, it is expected to get a very value-for-money price tag but what about the things that you should know about the Tata Nexon EV. Here are ten such things that you should know about.
Quickest Tata vehicle yet
Being an electric vehicle, the Tata Nexon EV will have its advantages. The electric vehicles are known for instant torque and the Nexon EV will be able to hit the 100 km/h mark below 10 seconds as per the official data. Officially, the Nexon EV will be quicker than any of the other Tata cars available in the market at the moment. It has a 0-100 km/h timing of just 9.46 seconds.
However, to keep the occupants safe, the Tata Nexon EV will be electronically limited. Tata has limited the top-speed of the Nexon EV at 120 km/h, which is not extremely high but good enough for the Indian roads.
Charges battery on the go
Just like most other EVs available in the market, the Nexon EV will offer regenerative braking system. However, like the Hyundai Kona EV and the MG eZS, one cannot control the level of regenerative braking in the Nexon EV. It is only available in a single setting.
First Tata SUV EV ever
The Nexon EV is the first-ever electric Tata SUV in the Indian market. Earlier, Tata launched the all-new Tiago EV and the Tigor EV but both of them are not on sale for the private car owners. The Nexon EV will be technically the first electric cars for the private car buyers from the manufacturer.
Range of 312 km as per ARAI
On a single charge, the Nexon EV will offer a range of 312 km. This has been tested by ARAI and in the real world situations, the range may come down to around 250 km. Yet, it is a respectable range and will allow the Tata Nexon EV buyers to roam around the city without much of a problem.
60 minutes quick charging
Tata will also offer the quick charging option with the Nexon EV. With DC quick charging, the Nexon EV can get charged to up to 80% in just 60 minutes. However, using the AC charger at home, the full charge will complete in about 8 hours.
First Tata to offer connected technology
The car manufacturers are already moving towards the connected technology and there are many vehicles including the Hyundai Venue, MG Hector and the Kia Seltos that offer the connected features. Well, the Tata Nexon EV will offer 35 connected features including vehicle status, geolocation, remote controlling the features and more.
Less ground clearance than the regular Nexon
Since the batteries of the Tata Nexon EV are placed on the floor, it results in lower ground clearance compared to the regular Nexon. The Nexon EV offers a ground clearance of 205mm while the regular Nexon offers 209mm. The 4mm difference is minuscule.
8-year warranty on the battery
One of the biggest fears when buying an EV is the battery replacement. Tata is offering IP67 waterproof rated and AIS 48 rated batteries that will have a long life. Tata will offer 8 years or 1.6 lakh km warranty on the batteries, which is quite good and impressive.
More powerful than the regular Nexon
The regular Nexon offers 110 PS of maximum power with the petrol and diesel engine options. The Nexon EV offers a maximum power of 129 PS, which is higher than the regular Nexon. Also, the Nexon EV offers 245 Nm of peak torque, which is higher than the 170 Nm generating petrol model but lower than the 260 Nm generating diesel engine.
