Tata Nexon EV is the best selling electric vehicle in India. The manufacturer is now working on making the Nexon EV more powerful by giving it a more powerful electric motor. The details have been revealed through a document from the Transport Department.
The current Nexon EV produces 129 PS of max power and 245 Nm of peak torque. The new motor would be producing 136 PS of max power, the torque output of the new motor is not known as of now. This is an increase of 7 PS over the current Nexon EV.
There will be no change to the battery pack. So, it will have a capacity of 30.2 kWh. It delivers a driving range of 312 km on a single charge as per ARAI. In the real world, you can expect a driving range of around 180 km. The driving range with the new motor should also stay more or less the same. The Nexon EV can hit a ton in just 9.9 seconds and the time could decrease even further with the new motor because it is slightly more powerful.

Tata Motors offers an 8-year warranty on the battery and the battery is also IP67 dust and water-resistant. The battery takes 60 minutes to charge up to 80 percent if you are using a DC fast charger. If you use a home wall box charger then the battery takes 8.5 hours to charge up to 80 percent.
Pricing
The Nexon EV starts at Rs. 13.99 lakhs ex-showroom and go all the way up to Rs. 16.85 lakhs ex-showroom. This makes the Nexon EV, most affordable electric vehicle that a common man can buy in India. Tata is also working on Tigor EV which will be launching on 31st August. Once that is launched, the Tigor EV will be the most affordable electric vehicle.
Variants
There are three variants of the Nexon EV. There is XM, XZ+ and XZ+ Lux. Tata now also offers Dark Editions of the Nexon EV. Dark Edition is only available with the XZ+ and XZ+ Lux trims. The XZ+ Dark Edition is priced at Rs. 15.99 lakhs ex-showroom whereas the XZ+ Lux trims costs Rs. 16.85 lakhs ex-showroom.
Nexon EV performing well in the market
Nexon EV is performing really well in the Indian market. Tata Motors earlier announced that the demand for the Nexon EV is the same as the Nexon Diesel. The Nexon EV registered its highest sales in June. Tata Motors sold 650 units in just one month. It also witnessed the highest quarter sale in the period April to June 2021. 1,715 units of Nexon EV were sold during this period.
There are a number of reasons behind the increased demand for the Nexon EV. The current fuel prices have forced people to look at alternative options of fuel. People are considering now electric vehicles. You would have noticed that recently many electric scooters were revealed. There is also an increase in the demand for CNG vehicles. Manufacturers are working on introducing CNG vehicles. Tata is working on the CNG version of the Tigor and Tiago whereas Maruti Suzuki is working on the CNG version of the Swift and the Dzire.
