Malayalam Motors in Kerala has released a few Tata Nexon SUVs that have been painted in the country colours of different participating teams in the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The already popular SUV was earlier seen in the sport team colours during the 2018 Indian Premier League. Tata’s link-up with the sports goes way back and they even roped in football legend Lionel Messi for the promotion of the Tata Tiago.
The video shows how the newly minted Tata Nexon SUVs are being used for marketing promotions. There are quite a few brandings on the car including Unibic Cookies, Tata Motors, OTTO Clothing and Coca-Cola. The video shows various people booking app-based taxi services and the Nexon arriving to pick them up instead of regular cars. However, the Nexon SUVs shown in the video do not get the commercial number plate.
There are a total of three Tata Nexon SUVs that can be seen in the video. There is a red one that sports the Russian team livery, a blue one that gets the Argentina official team livery and a yellow that supports Brazil. People in Kerala can expect to spot these three cars on the road for the duration of the world cup.
While it gets a lot of visual modifications, mechanically it remains identical to the stock car. The Nexon has become third largest selling sub-4-meter compact SUV in India and takes on the likes of highly competitive Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport. The car gets both petrol and diesel engine options. There is a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine that generates a maximum of 108 Bhp and 170 Nm. It also gets a four-cylinder diesel engine that generates a maximum of 108 Bhp and 260 Nm. Both get 6-speed manual transmission and 6-speed AMT automatic transmission. Tata Motors has also introduced a range of accessories that can be officially installed on the vehicle, including a sunroof.
