Tata Nexon is India’s biggest selling SUV

Tata Nexon has been around for years now and recently it became the best-selling SUV in the Indian market ahead of the Hyundai Creta in the last financial year. Even though the Hyundai Creta and the Nexon do not belong to the same segment and Nexon is much more affordable than the Creta, according to the pure sales number, the Tata Nexon leads the SUV segment in India. The Tata Nexon sold 1,72,138 units while the Creta follows a close second with 1,50,372 units. Interestingly, the direct competition of Tata Nexon – the Maruti Suzuki Brezza came in third with 1,45,665 units. So what makes Tata Nexon so popular? Here are the reasons.

A variant for everyone

The Tata Nexon offers a wide range of variants. The car is available with both petrol and diesel engine options and there are five variants available with the petrol and diesel engine options inlcuding XE, XM, XMA, XZ+ and XZA+. Tata also offers the Nexon with an electric powertrain and there are two different variants for customers depending on the choice of range. There is a long range variant called the Nexon EV MAX and the regular range variant – the standard Nexon EV. Further, Tata also offers a special editions from time to time to attract customers.

Safe and sturdy build quality

Global NCAP tested the India-made Tata Nexon and awarded the compact SUV a four star rating. The agency praised the Nexon’s build and said that it was a safe car. Multiple real life crashes have seen passengers of the Tata Nexon walking away unharmed, and going on to praise the build of the car. Clearly, the Nexon is one solidly built Tata car, giving buyers yet another reason to opt for it. All variants of the Nexon get ABS and twin airbags as standard.

Option for electric car buyers

Tata Nexon has become the best-selling electric car in the Indian market. Being one of the first-movers in the market, the Nexon has a big fan base. Tata offers the Nexon EV Max for the customers who want a car with long range while there is a Nexon EV Prime for the customers who want the Nexon EV for daily commuters and chores.

Attractive pricing

The Tata Nexon is priced quite attractively. It starts from Rs 7.8 lakh while the top-end variant gets a price tag of Rs 14.5 lakh. The base price of the Nexon is cheaper than most of its competitors making it a choice of many.

Regular updates

Tata likes to keep its car line-up fresh. We have seen a lot of updates on the Nexon since its launch in the Indian market. Tata even updated the Nexon EV with new features like cruise control and regenerative braking. With such updates, the Tata Nexon stays ahead of its competitors when it comes to remaining updated in the market.
