Just-Launched Tata Nexon Smart (O) Base Trim: First Walkaround Video

The Tata Nexon is one of the best-selling sub-compact SUVs in the country. However, recently its competition increased after the launch of the new Mahindra XUV 3XO. Now, in order to compete with the newly launched XUV 3XO, Tata Motors has introduced a new base variant for the Nexon. This variant is called the Nexon Smart (O). It has been launched at Rs 7.99 lakh, and recently a video of this variant’s walkaround has been shared online.
This video of the Tata Nexon base Smart (O) variant has come courtesy of Jitesh Arora Vlogs from YouTube. In this short video, the vlogger shows a family taking delivery of this newly launched Smart (O) variant. Following this, he starts with the walkaround of this new variant.
The vlogger starts the walkaround of the car at the front. It can be noted that in terms of changes, not much has been changed at the exterior of the car. It still comes equipped with LED DRLs and LED headlights. It misses out on LED fog lights and silver-colored skid plate at the front.
Moving on, the presenter then shows the side profile. Here as well, there are no prominent changes. It still gets 16-inch black steel rims, black-colored door handles, window trims, and ORVMs. As for the rear, it also remains the same with the connected LED taillights and a matte black lower bumper without any silver skid plate.
After showing the complete exterior, the vlogger then shows the interior of the car. It can be observed that it still remains the same. Now, being the base spec variant, it does not get many features. The Smart O variant misses out on a touchscreen infotainment system, speakers, touch-based HVAC controls, and others.
It only gets the new two-spoke steering wheel, a simple digital instrument gauge cluster, and manual air conditioning system. Other features include front power windows and sport, eco, and city driving modes which can be selected by a rotary dial. Apart from this, it gets an all-black interior with hard plastics all around and black fabric seats.
As mentioned above, Tata Motors has launched this new model with a price tag of Rs 7.99 lakh. It has been launched to rival the Mahindra XUV 3XO which starts at Rs 7.49 lakh. When it comes to the comparison, both models offer similar features.
Looks are subjective, but a lot of people will prefer the aggressive yet classy appearance of the Nexon. The Mahindra XUV 3XO has a bit of an odd exterior design which may not be everyone’s cup of tea.
When it comes to features, the Mahindra XUV 3XO pips the Nexon Smart O variant in some aspects. The same is done by Nexon on some aspects as well. The Nexon comes with LED headlights and DRLs from the base variant. However, the XUV 3XO gets halogen headlights with no LED DRLs.
On the inside, the Mahindra XUV 3XO comes with features like electrically adjustable ORVMs, front and rear power windows, and black and white dual-tone interior. Meanwhile, the Nexon does not get these features. It also misses out on rear AC vents and 60:40 split seats.
Coming to the powertrain, the 1.2-litre petrol engine of the base Nexon makes 118 bhp and 170 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the Mahindra XUV 3XO’s 1.2-litre petrol makes 110 bhp and 200 Nm of torque. The mileage offered by Nexon is 17.44 kmpl, meanwhile, the XUV 3XO offers 18.89 kmpl.
