Tata Motors is known for making interesting television and web commercials for its cars and SUVs. This Valentine’s Day, Tata Motors released not one but two ads, one for the Altroz that we already covered, and another for the Nexon, which we’ve lined up for you. Check it out and let us know what you think of the naughty Tata Nexon Valentine’s Day ad.
The Nexon was Tata Motors’ first compact SUV for the Indian car market, and was first launched in 2017, at a stunning price tag of Rs. 5.85 lakh. The stunning price tag for a 108 Bhp SUV ensured that the Nexon’s sales got off to a brisk start. Ever since, Tata Motors has been continually upgrading the Nexon to keep sales numbers strong, and in fact the compact SUV clocked its best-ever sales of 8,000+ monthly units last month.

The Tata Nexon got a facelift last year, and the facelifted version is available with a range of powertrains. The Nexon can be had with a 1.2 liter-3 cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 120 Bhp-170 Nm, or a 1.5 liter-4 cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with 108 Bhp-260 Nm, or an all-electric powertrain with 127 Bhp-245 Nm. While the petrol and diesel engines of the Nexon are available with 6 speed manual and automated manual (AMT) gearbox options, the Nexon EV gets a single speed automatic gearbox. All variants of the Nexon are front wheel driven, and the SUV gets multiple-driving modes as standard.
Key strengths of the Tata Nexon include its 5 star safety rating, which makes it one of the safest SUVs in its class, peppy engines, affordably priced variants that are also feature-rich, striking looks and a solid build. Twin airbags, ABS, reverse parking sensors and speed alerts are standard across all Nexon variants. Tata Motors is planning to launch the Nexon with a twin clutch automatic gearbox in the next year or so. Test mules of the Nexon with the twin clutch automatic gearbox have been spotted numerous times.
Coming to the electric variants of the compact SUV, the Nexon EV is India’s best selling electric car, and is also the fastest car ever produced by Tata Motors with a 0-100 Kph sprint time of less than 10 seconds. The Nexon EV delivers a real life range between 200-250 kilometers per charge although Tata Motors claims over 300 kilometers on a single charge. Prices of the Nexon EV start from Rs. 13.99 lakhs for the base trim.
Many states in India offer attractive benefits to those buying an electric vehicle, and the Nexon EV also gets these benefits, making it a great buy for those seeking a peppy and comfortable compact SUV for city use. While a lot of Nexon EV owners have taken the electric SUV on road trips spanning multiple days, careful planning in required as the number of charging points across the country is yet to increase in a meaningful way.
