The Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Tata Nexon are the country’s best-selling sub-compact SUVs and have been each other’s biggest rivals for a long time. Both models have taken turns being on top of the list of best-sellers, and last month it was the Brezza that came out on top. Given this long-term rivalry, it made complete sense to conduct a drag race between these two sub-compact SUVs to determine the real winner on the tarmac. Recently, a video of the race was shared on YouTube, and the results may surprise you.
The video of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza racing against its long-time rival Tata Nexon was shared on YouTube by Charlie Vlogs on their channel. The presenter begins the video by introducing both cars. He starts with the Brezza, mentioning that it is the new generation of the VXI variant and comes equipped with a 1.5L mild hybrid naturally aspirated engine. He then introduces the owner of the Brezza, who states that the car produces around 102 bhp and 138 Nm of torque. The owner also states that the car has a mild hybrid system that does not improve performance but only increases fuel efficiency.

Following this the presenter introduces his Nexon Jet Edition. He states that the car comes equipped with a 1.2L turbocharged engine which produces around 118 bhp and 170 Nm of torque. The presenter also adds that the car currently is in its stock format and does not have a tune on it right now. He also adds that he had a tune earlier but it did not deliver any noticeable change so they reverted it back to stock. Following the introduction of the two cars, both of them line up against each other on the start line. The drivers then decide that they will turn off the traction control and air conditioner. They also keep the cars in sports mode as well.
After this the first drag race starts and the Maruti Brezza performs an aggressive launch and takes off the starting line to create a massive gap. The Nexon then tries but fails and the Brezza wins the first drag race. They then perform the second race with the same settings and this time again the Brezza gets an off the line extremely quickly and leaves the Nexon in dust. Following this they lineup for the third race and this time Brezza owner suggests to keep the air conditioners on and do a non aggressive launch.
Both drivers then do the same and this time again the Brezza flies off the line and leaves the Nexon behind by quite a margin. Then for the fourth race the Nexon driver changes the seat and they keep the traction control on this time in both cars. This time again the Nexon gets left in the dust. After this they perform two rolling starts and in the first roll race the Brezza once again manages to beat the Nexon by a long margin. However in the final roll race the Nexon in the beginning catches up to Brezza but only because it takes a jump start on the Brezza.
