The country’s most popular sub-compact SUV the Nexon from the house of Tata Motors will be the newest model in its line-up to receive the coveted ADAS features. Recently the company launched the top-of-the-line flagship duo of its SUVs the Harrier and Safari’s Red Dark Edition which come equipped with these collision avoidance systems. Additionally, it has also been reported that the company will be offering an all-new steering wheel design in the upcoming Nexon facelift as well. This new steering wheel has been shown in the Tata’s mid-size Curvv coupe SUV during the 2023 Auto Expo. Also Read: 2023 Tata Nexon DCA First Drive Review and Fuel Efficiency
The first-ever test mule for the upcoming Nexon facelift was recently spotted driving throughout the country. Most likely, the model will be on sale in 2024. Based on the spy photos of the 2024 Nexon, the vehicle will probably keep its present platform and profile but will get a significant design makeover. The brand’s newest design language, which was debuted at the 2023 Auto Expo with the automaker’s impending coupe-styled SUV Curvv and its Seltos and Creta competition Sierra, will reportedly be featured on the all-new Nexon, according to reports.
The subcompact SUV’s front end might have split headlamps similar to the Curvv shown at the exhibition. With this design, the Nexon will also be in line with the Harrier and Safari twins, whose headlamps are positioned slightly above where the foglamps would normally be.
From the side, not much appeared to have been altered, and as was already noted, the wheelbase and general silhouette of the outgoing model will also be kept. The new alloy wheels are now the only aspect of the side alterations that is certain. The alloy wheels were covered in the same camouflage as the body of the test mule. One key detail of the test mule was that it boasted an elevated boot lip below the rear windscreen. It made it clear that the car may receive a connecting strip between the LED taillamps on both ends.
In terms of the interior, not much could be spotted from the spy photos, but it is anticipated that the forthcoming model would include a completely new dashboard layout. Together with some additional creature comforts and conveniences, it may also receive a larger infotainment screen, connected car technology, a bigger and more sophisticated driver display, and other upgrades.
As for the powertrain side of things, it was recently reported that the newly introduced 1.2L TGDi petrol powerplant could be offered in the forthcoming Nexon. This upgrade will help it to become the country’s most powerful subcompact SUV. According to the information, this new motor will be an 1198 cc three-cylinder turbocharged unit that will be able to produce a maximum of 125 PS of power at 5000 rpm. What will be more spectacular about this engine will be its torque output. This new powerplant will churn out a whopping 225 Nm of torque at 1700-3500 rpm. The subcompact SUVs new facelift like the current model will also be offered with EV drivetrains as well.
