Tata Nexon, the first sub 4-meter compact SUV from the brand is gaining quite a popularity in the market. Tata has introduced a new XZ trim to offer even more choices to the buyers. The newly introduced XZ variant misses out on a few features when compared to the top-end variant, it still gets features like floating touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and CarPlay, reverse camera, voice commands, projector headlamps, height adjustable driver seat and seat belts.

Speaking on the addition of the new variant, Tata Motors, Head – Marketing, PVBU, Vivek Srivatsa said,

With a continuous focus to introduce products that not only enhance the brand but simultaneously align well with the rising aspirations of customer segments, we are happy to introduce wider choice to NEXON customers in the form of a new variant – XZ. The NEXON XZ will be positioned very attractively to provide premium features to our customers. With fourteen exciting features, the NEXON XZ is yet another step towards making the brand more aspirational.

The new variant, however, misses out on features like LED DRL, front and rear fog lamps and rear defogger. The speaker system also has less number of speakers than the top variant. It also misses out on the machined alloy wheels that is available with the XZ+. Instead, the car gets 16-inch dual tone alloy wheels. Apart from these, the car remains exactly the same.

Mechanically, the new variant remains same as the others. It is offered with both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol unit is the same 1.2-litre turbocharged engine that develops a maximum power of 108 Bhp and 170 Nm. There is a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine that develops a maximum of 108 Bhp with 260 Nm. Both the engines get the 6-speed manual transmission.

Tata will soon launch the AMT version of the Nexon in the market. Tata showcased the Nexon AMT at the 2018 Auto Expo and the launch is expected to happen soon. Tata also launched a more aggressive version of the Nexon known as Nexon Aero earlier this year.
