Tata officially unveils the features of the upcoming Nexon

Tata will launch its first ever compact SUV in the form of Nexon this year. Tata will enter this highly competitive segment that is currently being ruled by Maruti Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport. Before the launch, Tata has officially revealed a few features of the Nexon.

The Tata Nexon will be truly one of a kind in terms of the design. It looks more premium and has unique features in the segment. The Nexon will get an all-new floating type touch-screen infotainment system. The 6.5-inch infotainment screen provides HD resolution.

It is the first time a manufacturer has introduced such a system in this segment. Such systems are only available with high-end vehicles in India. The infotainment will get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (at a later date) connectivity as standard. The Nexon will be the first Tata product to get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

The Nexon will also become the first-in the segment to feature multiple drive modes that can be engaged through a rotary knob. You can choose between Eco, City and Sport mode. The Nexon will be powered the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol and 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine.

The 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol will generate a maximum power of 108 Bhp at 5,000 rpm and peak torque of 170 Nm between 2000 to 4000 rpm. The diesel 1.5-liter engine is an all-new one that is also the most powerful diesel engine in the segment. It produces a maximum power of 108 at 3,750 rpm Bhp and 260 Nm of torque between 1,500 rpm to 2,750 rpm. Both the engine options will get a 6-speed synchromesh transmission with overdrive feature. There will no automatic on offer at the time of the launch.

Tata has also started the production of the Nexon at their Ranjangoan plant and the launch is expected to happen at around the festive season. Tata motors will soon start to dispatch the model across showrooms in India soon for the public display.
