Tata Motors has finally revealed the all-new Punch in the Indian market today. Tata Motors has already shipped the new cars to most of the dealerships across India. Tata Motors is yet to announce the price of the all-new Punch. The deliveries and the price announcement will happen later this month. The booking amount is Rs 21,000.
The all-new Tata Punch was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo as the HBX concept. Pratap Bose, who was then heading the design department of Tata Motors said that the production version of the car will be very similar to the concept model of the car and only a few minute changes will be done.

Looking at the production model, we can confirm the same. The production version of the Tata Punch looks very much like the HBX. The design of the front-end is inspired by the Harrier and the Safari. Interestingly, the Tata Punch is not built on the OMEGA platform like the Harrier and the Safari. It is based on the ALFA platform that also underpins the Tata Altroz. The Punch is the second car based on the ALFA platform.
The all-new Tata Punch will take on entry-level crossover models like the Ignis and the KUV100. It will even compete with the likes of Nissan Magnite and the Renault Kiger, which are positioned very affordably in the market. The Punch, however, looks very substantial. In fact, the dimensions are comparable to the Tata Nexon.
The all-new Punch gets a thick black grille that extends to become the LED DRL. The main headlamp clusters are located on the bumper of the car. The whole body gets a black cladding and even the front and rear bumpers are in black colour that adds a rugged look. On the sides, the Punch gets thick plastic cladding as well.
The top-end variant will come with dual-tone alloy wheels and there are cladding around the wheel arches too. The Punch gets tri-arrow shaped wraparound tail lamps at the rear. The tailgate gets a crease that connects both the lamps. The vehicle also gets a roof-mounted spoiler with an integrated high-mounted stop lamp.
There are six colour options available with the Punch. Three mono shades – White, Grey and Shonehenge. The dual-tone colours include white and black, grey and black and blue and white.
Cabin and engine
There are four different variants that Tata calls Persona. There is the base variant is called Pure, Adventure, Accomplished and Creative.
The all-new Punch gets a dashboard that looks similar to the Tata Altroz. It gets a dual-tone theme with black and white as primary colours. Other features like a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a flat-bottom steering wheel with multi-functional buttons, an automatic climate control system, a push-button engine start/stop, fabric upholstery and many other different features. The all-new Punch gets 90-degree opening doors as standard.
The all-new Tata Punch will come powered with only a petrol engine. There will be a 1.2-litre three-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 86 PS and a peak torque of 113 Nm. Tata will offer a manual and an AMT automatic transmission as well.
