The all-new Tata Punch was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo as the HBX concept. Pratap Bose, who was then heading the design department of Tata Motors said that the production version of the car will be very similar to the concept model of the car and only a few minute changes will be done.

Looking at the production model, we can confirm the same. The production version of the Tata Punch looks very much like the HBX. The design of the front-end is inspired by the Harrier and the Safari. Interestingly, the Tata Punch is not built on the OMEGA platform like the Harrier and the Safari. It is based on the ALFA platform that also underpins the Tata Altroz. The Punch is the second car based on the ALFA platform.

Looks substantial

The all-new Tata Punch will take on entry-level crossover models like the Ignis and the KUV100. It will even compete with the likes of Nissan Magnite and the Renault Kiger, which are positioned very affordably in the market. The Punch, however, looks very substantial. In fact, the dimensions are comparable to the Tata Nexon.

The all-new Punch gets a thick black grille that extends to become the LED DRL. The main headlamp clusters are located on the bumper of the car. The whole body gets a black cladding and even the front and rear bumpers are in black colour that adds a rugged look. On the sides, the Punch gets thick plastic cladding as well.
