Tata Punch micro-SUV interiors leaked ahead of launch

Tata Punch has created a lot of hype since it was first showcased as the HBX Concept at the Auto Expo 2020. Some dealerships have already started accepting unofficial bookings of the Punch. The booking amount has been set at Rs. 21,000. According to the rumours, the deliveries of the Punch could start in the last week of October or the first week of November. There have been a lot of spy shots of the new micro-SUV’s exterior. Now, the interior of the Punch has been revealed in new spy shots.

There are two pictures of the interior. The first one shows the dashboard design while the other one shows the steering wheel and the instrument cluster. A lot of cabin design is taken from the Altroz which is a premium hatchback but there are some tweaks made to some elements so that it looks different and complements the exterior of the Punch.

The steering wheel is the same as the Altroz. It is a multi-function unit so on the left side you get controls for the infotainment system and a voice command button too. On the right side, there are buttons for controlling the multi-information display and cruise control. Punch will be the first vehicle in its segment to get cruise control.

The dashboard is quite similar to the one we saw on the HBX Concept. There are blue accents around the air conditioning vents. This means that the exterior colour of the micro-SUV is also blue. There is a floating touchscreen infotainment system that should support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It might be running a new user interface that should be smoother than the current one. The infotainment system will be connected to speakers sourced from Harman.

It also comes with automatic climate control and the dashboard is finished in a dual-tone paint scheme. The dashboard has a black and white finish. There is also a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and an analogue speedometer. It is the same unit that we saw on the Tata Harrier, Nexon EV and the Altroz. It seems like Tata Motors has also removed the compass that we saw in the interior of the HBX Concept.

Engine and gearbox

The post also says that the Punch was equipped with an AMT gearbox. There would also be a 5-speed manual gearbox on offer. The engine will be the same as the Altroz, Tiago and the Tigor. It is a three-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 86 PS of max power and a peak torque output of 115 Nm. Tata Motors might also offer a turbocharged engine with the Punch. It will be offered only on the higher variants and will be more powerful than the naturally aspirated one. There will be no diesel engine on offer.

Rivals

Tata Punch will be competing against the Mahindra KUV100 and the Maruti Suzuki Ignis. Because of the pricing, Punch will also lock horns with Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite. There is also the upcoming Citroen C3, which might compete with the Punch, depending on its pricing.
