The video has been shared by Tata Motors on their YouTube channel. In this video, Tata teases us with some of the exterior features of the Punch or the HBX micro SUV. The Tata Punch will compete with cars like Maruti S-Presso and upcoming Hyundai Casper in the segment. The video shows a front end design which is similar to what we have seen in many other Tata SUVs. The front end actually looks like a mix of both Harrier and Nexon.
Both Nexon and Harrier are popular SUVs in their respective segments. The front grille gets a gloss black slat which is seen in Nexon. There are LED DRLs that are placed like an extension of the grille. Turn indicators are also expected to be integrated in here. A silver or grey colour garnish or humanity line can also be seen at the front. In the spy pictures, it was already clear that the headlamps will be positioned on the bumper and the same can be seen here as well.
The headlamp is a projector unit and the cluster will have a mix of gloss and matte black finish to give it a sporty look. Tata’s tri-arrow design can also be seen inside the headlamp cluster. The bumper looks quite muscular to give it that SUV like look. This is what Tata has shown in the video. From the spy pictures of the test mule that we have seen recently. Tata will be offering Punch with a dual tone diamond cut alloy wheel, it will have black claddings around the car to give it an SUV look.
The production version of the Punch looks a lot like the digital render that our render artist had made. At the rear, Tata will offer tri-arrow design LED tail lamps, muscular bumper and on the inside, Tata’s floating style touchscreen infotainment screen is also expected to be seen.
Tata HBX will be offered with a petrol engine only. It will be powered by a 1.2 litre petrol engine that is also being used in the cars like Tiago, Altroz and Tigor. This engine generates a maximum of 85 Bhp and 113 Nm of peak torque. This engine is offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 5-speed AMT gearbox option. Tata might also offer a turbocharged version of the same engine at a later. It is the same engine that Tata introduced in Altroz iTurbo earlier this year.
