Tata Punch Pure Base Variant in a quick walkaround review video

Tata Motors recently launched their all-new micro SUV Punch in the market. Tata Punch competes with cars like Maruti Ignis, Mahindra KUV100 in the segment. It is currently the safest car in the country with  5 star rating at Global NCAP crash test. Tata Punch has received an overwhelming response from customers for its looks and pricing. There are several videos of Tata Punch available online but, only a few videos show how the base variant of this micro SUV look like. Here we have a video that shows what exactly does the base variant of Tata Punch offer.

The video has been uplaoded by Arun Panwar  on his YouTube channel. In this video, vlogger talks about Tata Punch Pure, which is the entry level variant of Punch. He starts with the exterior first. Tata has done a decent job with the exterior of the Punch. The base variant does not look very cheap on the outside, except it does not come with projector headlamps and LED DRLs like the higher trims.

Tata continues to offer gloss black grille at the front and instead of LED DRLs, base variant has parking lamps in it. Turn indicators are placed next to the parking lamps. Thick black cladding on the bumper is common feature across the range and tri arrow designs are also seen here. As this is the base variant Tata does not offer fog lamps with the car.

Moving to the side profile, the car comes with 15 in steel rims. The higher variants are equipped with 16 inch steel rims or machine cut dual tone alloy wheels. Steel rims on the base variant are blacked out with Tata logo in the center. Turn indicators are integrated on the ORVMs and not on the fender like other cars in the segment. The base variant also misses out on features like roof mounted antenna, roof rails.

At the rear, the tri arrow design bulky look tail lamps can be seen however, they have halogen lamps instead of LEDs. The bumper gets a set of parking sensors and other than that nothing much has changed here. Moving in, Tata Punch does not offer height adjustable driver seat in Pure variant. The cabin looks basic with no features at all. Tata does not offer speakers or even a music system with Punch base variant. The front gets power window options whereas the rear ones are manual.

There is only one 12V socket and there are no steering mounted control on it. The ORVMs are manually adjustable and foldable and the instrument cluster is also analog. Tata is offering City and Eco drive mode and Idle Start Stop system is also available as standard along with dual airbags and ABS. Vlogger mentioned that he was quite happy with the product because of the price and space it was offering inside. He said, it does not feel like a small car both from outside and inside.

Tata Punch is powered by a 1.2 litre, three cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. The car generates 86 Ps and 113 Nm of peak torque and is available with a a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox. The base Pure variant is available with manual gearbox only.
