Tata Punch micro SUV reimagined as a rally car [Video]

Tata Punch is currently Indian manufacturers entry level SUV in the market. It was launched in the market last year and in 11 months, Tata sold over 1 lakh units of the Punch. This micro SUV is based on the HBX concept which was showcased to public at 2020 Auto Expo. The car became popular among buyers for its bold looks and sturdy build quality. Like many other Tata products, Punch also scored a 5 star rating at Global NCAP crash test. There are various customisation and modification options available for Tata Punch in the market. Here we have a video where an artist shows how Tata Punch would look like if it were to participate in a rally.

The video has been uploaded by SRK Designs on their YouTube channel. In this video the artist reimagines Tata Punch as a rally car. He makes several changes to the car to make it look more like a rally car. Starting with the original paint. He changes the colour of the car from Blue to white. The turn indicators just below the bonnet were completely blacked out while the headlamps were retained. The stock bumper on the Tata Punch was extended down. The stock dual-tone alloy wheels and tyres on Tata Punch are not suitable for rally purpose.

Those wheels were replaced with proper rally spec wheels and tyres. The wheels look slightly bigger than the stock units which it replaces. The thick cladding around the squared wheel arches and the side body has been retained. Other noticeable changes on the side profile of the Punch is the stickers. The Punch gets stickers from the sponsors and there is a rhino sticker on the door which indicates the build quality of the car. There are digitally rendered stickers on the rear door and the C-pillar.

The tail lamps on this SUV have been retained and a huge spoiler has been installed on the roof. There are radio antennas installed on the roof and a roof scoop can also be seen. As this is a rally spec car, the rear seat on this Tata Punch is most likely to be removed. A roll cage has been installed in the cabin to keep the occupants safe in case of an accident. Other than this, the steering and the ORVMs are likely to have been modified too. It should be noted that, Tata has no plans to launch a rally spec version of Tata Punch. This is just a product of artist’s imagination.

Tata Punch with all these changes definitely looks good and rally ready. Tata Punch is not the most powerful SUVs. It is powered by a 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 86 Ps and 113 Nm of peak torque. The SUV is available with a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox. The price for Tata Punch starts at Rs 5.93 lakh, ex-showroom and goes up to Rs 9.49 lakh, ex-showroom. Tata is most probably working on a new edition for their popular SUV line up. They recently released a teaser which says “Jet. Set. Slay – Suit Up To Soar High”. The special edition will go on sale from August 27th.
