Tata Motors is one of the leading car manufacturer in the country. Earlier this year, Tata launched a new 7-seater SUV that is named after one of the iconic SUV – Safari in the market. The SUV is entirely different from the original Safari that got discontinued years ago. The all-new Safari currently competes with cars like MG Hector Plus, Hyundai Alcazar in the segment. Tata is now planning to launch a Gold Edition version of Safari and a teaser video of the same has also been released. Based on teaser video a render image is also circulating online.
The video has been shared by Tata Motors on their YouTube channel. Tata is planning to launch the Gold Edition of Safari SUV at the Vivo IPL 2021. The IPL will take place in UAE and will start from 19th September 2021. A text is seen in the video that says ” The legend will take over. Coming soon only at Vivo IPL 2021 UAE.” The IPL was once suspended due to the pandemic. IPL has a large following in India and Tata is likely to take advantage of the occassion to launch the Gold Edition Safari.

A render image is also available online that shows, how the SUV might look like. It has been shared by Motorbeam on their website. The artist has actually made no changes to the overall design of the SUV. The only change is the paint job. It now gets the same High-Street Gold colour as Altroz. Other cosmetic changes seen on the render image are the grille and the wheels.
The chrome grille with tri-arrow design inserts have been completely blacked out and the dual tone alloy wheels on the SUV have also been blacked out. The ORVMs, roof rail and the shark fin antenna is also finished in black. Overall, Tata Safari looks neat in this shade. This is just a digital render and the original version might be different from this image.
It is expected that Tata might make some cosmetic changes inside the cabin of Gold Edition Tata Safari to differentiate it from regular units. Tata Safari is based on the same platform as Harrier. It is actually an extended version of the 5-seater SUV. In terms of dimensions, Safari is slightly taller and longer than Safari. There is no change in width and wheelbase of the Safari when compared with Harrier.
The top-end version of Safari SUV comes with projector headlamps, dual function LED DRLs, dual tone alloy wheels, touchscreen infotainment screen, JBL speaker system, large panoramic sunroof, captain seats, electrically adjustable driver seat, leather wrapped seats, multi-function steering wheel and many more features. These features are expected to be seen in the Gold Edition as well.
Tata Safari is powered by the same engine as Harrier. It uses a 2.0 litre turbocharged diesel engine that generates 170 Ps and 350 Nm of peak torque. This engine is also doing duties in Jeep Compass and MG Hector. It is available with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission option.
