Tata launched their flagship SUV Safari in the market earlier this year. It competes with cars like Hyundai Alcazar and MG Hector in the segment. The competition is expected to become stiffer with the launch of Mahindra XUV700 next month. Tata has now silently updated the higher XT and XZ variants with more features to keep up with the rising competition. Tata also launched a Gold Edition of Safari in the market and these updated features are included in this variant as well.
Tata Safari is offered in XE, XM, XT and XZ trims. The updated or newly added features are available with the higher XT and XZ trims only. The XT and XTA variants now offer wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This version of the Safari will also offer an air purifier from now on. The XZ and XZA variant now offers wireless phone charger along with air purifier and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other than this, the SUV continues offer all the other feature that it used to offer before.

Tata Safari XT variant offers features like automatic climate control, auto headlamps, rain sensing wipers, ambient lighting, 18 inch alloy wheels, iRA connected car technology, cruise control and so on. Panoramic sunroof is offered with XT+ and XTA+. The XZ variant offers features like Signature oyster white interiors, leather wrapped seats, steering and door pads, Terrain Response Mode, touchscreen infotainment system, JBL speaker system, Hill Descent Control, 6 airbags, electrically adjustable driver seat over the XT, XT+ and XTA+ variants.
Tata recently launched the Gold Edition of Safari in the market. This edition offers more features than the regular variants. These are based on top-end variants of Safari and come in two exclusive colours of White Gold and Black Gold. There are golden accents on several body panels that differentiate them from regular or Adventure Persona version of Safari.
The Gold Edition offers Diamond quilted genuine leather seats, ventilated seats feature for both front and second row seats along with wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, air purifier and wireless phone charger. The price for recently launched Gold Edition Tata Safari is Rs 21.89 lakh, ex-showroom.
Tata Safari is based on Harrier which is a 5-seater SUV that launched in 2019. Both SUVs share most of the features except the third row seat and newly added features. Both Safari and Harrier are powered by the same engine. It uses a 2.0 litre turbocharged diesel engine that generates 170 Ps and 350 Nm of peak torque. The engine is available with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission option.
Tata is also working on a micro SUV which is known as Punch. This SUV has already started reaching dealerships and has been spotted several times. The SUV will compete with the likes of Maruti Ignis, S-Presso and Mahindra KUV100 NXT in the segment. It is expected to be offered with a 1.2 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 86 Ps and 115 Nm of torque. Tata Punch will be offered with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox option.
