The iconic Tata Motors two-door SUV Sierra was discontinued back in 2003 to make room for new models. Now, exactly 20 years later the company has taken the stage of Auto Expo 2023 to reintroduce the long-lost legend Sierra in an entirely renovated EV avatar. Although the vehicle will not be coming till 2025, the company did reveal that the concept of the Sierra.EV unveiled at the show has been locked in for the final series production and will be launched in 2025.
Tata Motors Head of Global Design, Martin M. Uhlarik at the Auto Expo 2023 revealed that the concept showcased at the company booth at the event has been finalized to enter production in 2025. Back in 2020 the company also unveiled another concept of the Tata Sierra EV however it was radically different from the one that has been sealed to go into final production.
When compared to the concept that was unveiled to the public in 2020, the Sierra.EV concept of 2023 is a significantly bigger car. Instead of the two doors of the previous model, the new car boasts five more practical doors. The original Sierra from the 1990s also had curved rear windows that reached the roof; these windows are no longer present in the finalised Sierra.EV concept. The new concept mimics the Sierra’s original back fixed glass design with gloss black trim components at the top, but the fixed glass roof is replaced with a panoramic sunroof.

The SUV’s front is furnished with a long LED strip that connects from end to end. Additionally, d ue to its electric drivetrain not requiring extra cooling, it also has a clean front fascia without any large grilles. It comes with a sizable bumper, a substantial silver skid plate and a large Tata logo in front and center of the fascia.
Meanwhile the SUV’s rear has a powerful, upright posture and an all-LED strip similar to the front, t his strip of rear brake lights is similarly continuous from end to end. The straightforward rear bumper is covered in the same black cladding as is on the sides. Additionally, it has a massive silver skid plate at the back that indicates that it could be launched with a 4X4 setup to rival the likes of the Thar, Jimny and Gurkha.
On the interior the concept of the Sierra.EV boasts a futuristic looking layout which is further improved by a two-tone color palette. The comfortable, airline-style chairs and the complete lack of buttons and dials, which are displayed on screens in the concept, are examples of its futuristic styling.
