Here are pictures and specifications of the fastest cars Tata Motors will soon sell in India – the Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP. Scheduled to be launched on the 26th of October, 2018, the Tata Tiago JTP and Tigot JTP promise affordable performance in stylish packages.
Both cars use the 1.2 liter REVOTRON turbocharged petrol engine borrowed from the Tata Nexon, but in a different state of tune. On both the Tata Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP, this engine produces 114 PS of peak power at 5,000 rpm and 150 Nm of peak torque between 2,000 rpm and 4,000 rpm.
5 speed manual gearboxes with revised ratios to maximise the engine’s higher outputs are standard on both cars. Multi drive modes with city and sport options are also standard. Tata Motors claims a blazing 10 second 0-100 Kph acceleration timing for both cars, which means that they’re seriously quick.
Other performance oriented changes on both cars include stiffer suspension for better handling, a lower ride height, wider tyres and sporty tuning for the electric power steering. Safety features such as ABS+EBD and twin airbags are standard on both the high-performance cars.
Both cars also receive a stylistic makeover – both on the inside and outside. On the outside, changes on the Tata Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP include side skirts, vented bonnets, new alloy wheel design, contrast colour for the wing mirror housings and roof, hatchlid spoiler on the Tiago JTP and a bootlid spoiler on the Tigor JTP, twin exhaust tips and new bumpers.
On the inside, changes include an all-black interior colour with contrast red bits, aluminium pedals, new seat fabric and a leather wrap steering wheel. The cars also feature 8 speaker infotainment systems with navigation assist and voice commands.
While the Tata Tiago JTP is expected to be priced at under Rs. 6 lakhs, the Tigor JTP is likely to cost about Rs. 1 lakh more. Both cars will be sold at all Tata dealers across India. The JTP badge stands of Jayem Tata Performance – a 50:50 joint venture that Tata Motors has formed with Coimbatore based Jayem Engineering. This joint venture will launch more JTP branded high performance Tata cars in future.
