Tata unveiled the performance version of the Tiago and Tigor at the 2018 Auto Expo in India.  Both the Tiago JTP and the Tigor JTP will become India’s most affordable hot hatchback and hot sedan when launched in the market. Both the upcoming performance cars have been tuned in collaboration with the Coimbatore-based Jayem Automotive and the full form of JTP is “Jayem Tata Performance”. The high-performance Tiago and Tigor will be available only with a petrol engine. Both of them will be powered by the 1.2-litre turbocharged engine that also powers the Tata Nexon. The turbocharged engine produces a maximum of 108 Bhp and 150 Nm, which is much higher than the 85 Bhp – 114 Nm churned out by the regular petrol models of both the cars.

The JTP models also get tweaked transmissions. The 5-speed manual transmission gets reworked gear ratios that give a better acceleration to both the upcoming cars. The performance cars also get the re-tuned suspension system with larger 15-inch rims. The new wheels and the suspension give the vehicles better handling and also a better stance on the road.

Both the cars also get a few visual updates too. The test cars get camouflaged front and rear bumpers. Tata officially revealed both the cars at the 2018 Auto Expo and they came with aggressive looking front and rear bumpers, underbody side skirts and a faux rear diffuser. All the additional modifications make the Tiago and Tigor JTP look different from the regular version. Changes include smoked headlamps and new JTP badges on the rear.

On the inside, the cars get the all-black theme with leather finish on the seats and the steering wheel. The seats get a contrasting red stitching to add sportier appeal. There will be all aluminium pedals too. The Tata Tiago gets the regular infotainment system but the Tigor will feature a touch-sensitive infotainment system. The launch of the high performance Tiago and Tigor is expected to happen in July.
