Tata Tiago NRG bags 3,000 bookings in just a month of launch

Tata Tiago is the best-selling car from the Indian brand at the moment. The Tata Tiago has been around for a while and has become a popular product in the market. Tata launched the rugged-version of the Tiago in the form of Tiago NRG last month and the variant has already gained 3,000 bookings.

Tata Tiago NRG is the first-ever cross-hatchback offered by the brand and will help the Tiago brand maintaining a strong sales figure in the market. The Tata Tiago is a rugged version of the hatchback that comes with a lot of add-ons on the outside.

The cross-hatch gets brushed aluminium scuff plates, blacked-out front grille and air dram, tweaked headlamps and raised ground clearance. The Tiago NGR also gets cladding on the sides and wheel arches that give it a beefy look. The Tiago NRG also gets blacked-out ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, black roof rails, new 14-inch alloy wheels that look quite different from the regular one and a roof-mounted spoiler.

The interiors of the Tata Tiago NRG remains similar to the regular model. The only differentiating factor is the silver and orange inserts on the bezels of air conditioning vents, centre console, and the surroundings of the gearbox lever. The Tiago NRG is also bigger than the regular version of the hatchback. It is longer, wider and taller than the standard version. The ground clearance of the Tiago NRG is 180 mm, which is 10 mm higher than the regular version of the Tiago.

The Tiago remains unchanged mechanically. There is a 1.2-litre petrol engine a 1.05-litre diesel engine. The petrol version produces a maximum power of 84 Bhp and 114 Nm of peak torque. The three-cylinder engine produces a maximum of 69 Bhp and 140 Nm. The Tiago NRG is only offered with a manual transmission. The Tiago NRG takes on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Celerio X.

Ford also offers the Figo Freestyle in the segment that is priced at around Rs. 6 lakhs. The Tiago NRG is the most affordable cross-hatchback in India. Interestingly, Tata will soon launch the Tiago JTP performance hatchback that will be offered with the 1.2-litre turbocharged engine. It is expected to produce more than 108 Bhp and 150 Nm of peak torque and will get a 6-speed manual transmission.
