Tata Tiago & Tigor now get Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity system

Tata Motors has added the Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity app to both the Tiago and Tigor. With this, the Tata Tiago hatchback and Tigor compact sedan’s top end variants will now get both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto  smartphone connectivity apps on their touchscreen infotainment systems. This will make pairing Android phones and iPhones to both cars’ infotainment units seamless.

Both the Tata Tiago and Tigor have recently received a new top-end trim called the XZ+ which adds a slew of features and unique styling elements. The Tiago is Tata Motors’ best selling car, with the hatchback managing to clock about 6,000-8,000 monthly units. The Tigor does about 2,000-3,000 units. Both cars are the best priced vehicles in their respective segments, and have been majorly responsible for Tata Motors’ big comeback in India’s passenger vehicles segment.

The Tiago hatchback sold in India was launched at a starting price of Rs. 3.2 lakhs 3 years ago. Prices have steadily gone up, and the Tiago now starts from Rs. 4.34 lakhs. Despite this price hike, the Tiago remains very good value-  for-money as it offers more space, power and features than its direct rivals such as the Maruti Suzuki Celerio and  WagonR.

The Tiago is offered with 3 engine options – a 1.2 liter-3 cylinder naturally aspirated petrol (84 Bhp-115 Nm), a 1.1  liter-3 cylinder turbocharged diesel (69 Bhp-140 Nm) and a 1.2 liter-3 cylinder turbocharged petrol (112 Bhp-150 Nm). All three engines get 5 speed manual gearboxes as standard and the lower powered petrol engine gets a 5 speed AMT as an option.

The Tigor shares its engines and gearboxes with the Tiago but is more spacious. It also gets a notchback form factor,  which makes it one of the best looking sub-4 meter compact sedan, and also liberates a lot of boot space. Both the  Tiago and Tigor get high performance JTP trims.

Apart from using the turbo petrol engine with plenty of power and torque and revised gear ratios, the Tiago and Tigor JTP twins also get tweaked suspension that makes the cars sit lower, and gives them better handling. Other key changes on the cars include styling tweaks on the outside and sporty design elements on the inside.

The Tata Tiago and Tigor JTP are among the least priced high performance cars that money can buy in India. Prices of the Tiago JTP start from Rs. 6.39 lakhs while those of the Tigor JTP start from Rs. 7.49 lakhs. Both cars are  available at specific Tata Motors dealerships across India.
