Tata Motors officially launched the 2019 Tiago and Tigor JTP facelifts with new features earlier this month. The new, updated versions of the car now come with added features that have been put in place after customer feedback and inputs. With the new features in place, Tata has also increased the price of both the vehicles by a significant number. With that, Tata Tiago JTP has now priced at Rs 6.69 lakh, which makes it Rs 30,00 more expensive than the previous version, while the Tata Tigor JTP also gets a similar price hike and now costs Rs 7.59 lakh. The significant price hike can be a step to cushion the price hike of the BS6 version, which will be launched next year in the market. We saw the official exterior pictures of the car. Here is what the car looks like from the inside.
The cabin pictures of the 2019 Tata Tiago JTP and Tata Tigor JTP show that no significant updates have been done in the terms of visuals. However, both the high-performance models now get features like power-folding ORVMs, contrasting colours on the ORVMs, automatic climate control system, touchscreen infotainment console with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and a few minor changes. The Tata Tigor JTP also gets a shark fin antenna on the roof, which adds a premium touch. Mechanically, both cars remain unchanged.
The pictures further reveal that the Tata Tiago JTP and Tata Tigor JTP get the piano black console in the centre along with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The seats are also wrapped in dual-tone upholstery. There are several JTP insignia inside the cabin that adds the sporty touch. Even the seats get the same JTP impressions. Tata also offers automatic climate control system, a 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel, twin-pod instrument cluster and aluminium pedals.
Both cars are powered by the same engine. It should be noted that Tata Motors developed the vehicles in partnership with Jayem Automotive. Both the vehicles come powered by the same the 1.2-litre, turbocharged three-cylinder engine that powers the Tata Nexon. The engines are tuned to produce a maximum power of 112 Bhp and peak torque of 150 Nm. Both the vehicles get the 5-speed manual transmission.
The transmission has been tweaked and the final gear ratios have changed to provide better low-end torque and improve the mid-range grunt. Apart from the different engine, exterior and interior, the Tata Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP come with stiffer suspension set-up, it makes the driving experience much better but the ride quality becomes rough.
