Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors, said,

“The changing market conditions, rising input costs and various external economic factors have compelled us to consider this price increase. We are optimistic on maintaining our growth trajectory in the coming year on the back of our robust portfolio consisting of segment-leading products like TIAGO, HEXA, TIGOR and the NEXON. “

Tata Motors currently has a wide range of products in its Indian portfolio. The Tata Nano, which now is only made on order is the entry-level vehicle of the brand and it starts at Rs. 2.36 lakhs, ex-showroom, Delhi. The Tata Hexa is currently the most expensive product in the line-up and the top-end version of the premium SUV is priced at Rs. 17.97 lakhs. Tata will also launch the much-awaited Harrier in January 2019. Tata has already started taking official bookings for the Harrier but the price has not been announced yet. It is possible that Tata Harrier’s top-end version would undercut the price of the Hexa as the Harrier only offers a 2.0-litre diesel engine with a 6-speed manual transmission. There is no 4WD option in the vehicle too.

Tata Tiago is the most popular and best-selling product of the Indian manufacturer. The small hatchback gets powered by both petrol and diesel engine options. There is a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated, three-cylinder petrol engine that generates a maximum of 85 Bhp and 114 Nm. There is a 1.1-litre turbocharged diesel engine too that generates a maximum of 70 Bhp of power and 140 Nm of peak torque. Tata offers an AMT automatic transmission with the petrol engine option. Tata recently launched the Tiago JTP that is powered by a 1.20-litre turbocharged engine that generates a maximum power of 112 Bhp and peak torque of 150 Nm. The Tata Tigor also comes with similar engine and transmission options including the JTP, high-performance version.

The Tata Nexon has also gained quite a lot of popularity in the market and has outsold popular models like Ford EcoSport in the market. The Nexon also gets powered by both petrol and diesel engine options. It gets a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that generates a maximum of 108 Bhp and 150 Nm. The 1.5-litre diesel engine generates a maximum of 108 Bhp and 240 Nm of peak torque. Both the versions get AMT automatic transmission. Tata would also increase the price of other models in the line-up including the popular Tata Safari Storme.
