Tata Tigor Electric Vehicle: First video EVER!

While we have already reported in great detail about the new Tata Tigor EV (electric vehicle), it’s only now that walkaround videos of the car have started surfacing on the cyberspace. Here’s one such video that talks about the new EV.

The vlogger says he spotted the Government-owned car while its batteries were being charged. He goes on to say that initially, he thought the white Tiago he spotted was merely a regular variant. However, a closer look revealed that it’s the EV instead. He says the only way to distinguish between the regular variants and the EV is through the EESL and the ‘Electric/EV’ decals. The interior is also pretty much the same except for a different gear lever and a vertically placed spare wheel in the boot. This has been done to accommodate the batteries in the boot. Like you can see in the video, the Tigor EV is being charged through a regular electric socket, which is pretty much like how you charge electronics like a laptop, mobile phone etc.

The Tata Tigor EV is being produced at the company’s Sanand facility in Gujarat. The first 10,000 units will be supplied to the Government of India for use by the Government officers. The Tiago Electric will enter production in the very near future. Soon thereafter, both the models will go on sale for private buyers. Powering the Tata Tigor EV is a 3-phase AC induction motor that outputs 40 BHP at 4,500 RPM. The EESL users have reportedly told the vlogger that the Tigor EV has a range of roughly 140 KMs. The electric motors and the batteries for the Tigor EVs are currently being sourced from Electra EV, a new company that supplies electric drivetrain systems to Tata Motors. The battery has been rated at 216 Ah. The Tata Tigor EV has a top speed of 100 kmph. The motor comes mated to a single-speed gearbox. The Tigor EV has a price of Rs 11.2 lakh (inclusive of GST). The car comes with a 5-year manufacturer’s warranty.
