Another pic of the long-awaitedTata Tigor JTP test mule has surfaced on Team BHP. The photo was taken at a highway toll plaza in Coimbatore. The Tata Tigor spotted can be seen sporting a twin-barrel exhaust, which suggests that it could be the Tigor JTP.
There have been numerous spottings of the Tata Tigor JTP test mules in the past. However, the latest spyshot shows that the test mule has a raw rear bumper without any paint. There are no black plastic cladding inserts as well. What appears to be intact though are the rear reverse parking sensors. The black spoiler placed above the rear windshield is similar to the standard model. However, the rear antenna and chrome boot garnish are missing. Also, the taillights are of the base model.
Last year, Coimbatore-based Jayem Automotive and Tata Motors announced their collaboration to develop more powerful and sportier versions of Tata cars. This includes the Tiago JTP and Tigor JTP.
The prototype models of both cars were first showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo in February this year. Since then, the Tigor JTP version has been spotted testing on roads several times. Both cars are expected to get a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that will produce a maximum power of 108 BHP and 150 Nm of peak torque. A 5-speed manual transmission will be standard. The cars are also likely to feature bigger wheels and stiffer suspension set-ups.
The Tata Tigor JTP promises to be a great package for enthusiasts, only if priced right. We expect it to sit under Rs. 7 lakhs in terms of pricing. A launch during the festive season is likely.
