Spy photos of the Tata Vista hatchback with ‘Quadrajet 90’ diesel engine badge have surfaced the internet.
Speculations are ripe that Tata Motors may launch a ‘hot diesel hatchback’ in the form of a Vista Quadrajet 90 similar to the Fiat Grande Punto 90HP Sport (powered by a Quadrajet 90 hp engine) limited edition launched by Fiat a few weeks ago. Also read: Fiat Punto 90 HP Sport

Looks
The Vista Quadrajet 90 had subtle changes on the exterior such as red accents on the radiator grille, lower air dam stripes, outside mirrors and on the rear strip below the windshield. There were no interior spy photos of the Vista Quadrajet 90 but we can expect mild changes such as new seat fabric and chrome accents on door sills. The test mule had a Quadrajet 90 badge above the front left fender, ZX badge at the rear and alloy wheels (similar to those of the ZX).

Performance
The Vista Quadrajet 90 will likely be powered by a Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre Multijet diesel motor that puts out 91.7 Bhp (93 PS) of power and 209 Nm of torque. This will make the Vista Quadrajet 90 perform better than the regular Vista Quadrajet diesel which is powered by a 1.3-litre Quadrajet diesel engine that makes 75 Bhp of power and 190 Nm of torque. It is yet to be known whether the Vista Quadrajet 90 can be more fuel efficient than the regular model.
Variants and Features
The Vista Quadrajet 90 is expected to come only in the top-end ZX variant which comes with features such as dual-tone alloy wheels, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, ELR front seat belts with pre-tensioners and load limiters and LED high mount stop lamp.
With regard to comfort features, the ZX variant offers AC with climate control, rear wiper, rear windscreen demister, BLUE 5 (Bluetooth connectivity), 2-DIN music system with FM/MP3/CD playback, USB port, auxiliary input and infrared remote for audio, Audio streaming, audio controls on steering wheel, four speakers and two tweeters. Launch and Price
The Vista Quadrajet 90 is expected to be priced around Rs. 6.80 lakh, which is roughly Rs. 40,000 more than the Vista ZX Quadrajet diesel which is priced at Rs. 6.40 lakh. The Vista Quadrajet 90 will likely be offered at a cheaper price point when compared with the Punto 90 HP Sport (Rs. 7.36 lakh). The Vista Quadrajet 90 may be launched during the second half this year, especially during the festival season in October 2012.
Conclusion
The Vista is a VFM hatchback with spacious interiors, adequate features and excellent ride quality. The new Quadrajet 90 engine may help boost Vista’s image among performance enthusiasts. Tata Motors is fully utilizing its partnership with Fiat India by sourcing its engines and is also following a similar strategy in providing powerful variants to the buyers, case in point, the Vista Quadrajet 90.
