Tata Motors has launched the Zest Premio compact sedan in India. ‘Premio’ is a special edition version of the Zest, and prices start from Rs. 7.53 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi. Bookings for the new car is open across all Tata showrooms in India.
The car is based on the Zest Diesel variant, with the 1.3 liter Fiat Multijet turbocharged engine with 75 PS of peak power and 190 Nm of peak torque. A 5 speed manual gearbox is standard. The Zest Premio is a fresher take on the compact sedan whose rivals include the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Ford Aspire, Honda Amaze and Hyundai Xcent.
Changes on the Zest Premio are limited to cosmetics, both on the outside and inside. The car now gets a glossy black finish for the roof, a piano black finish for the wing mirrors and the hood strip and bootlid garnish, silver wheel covers, a special edition badge, and an optional piano-black rear spoiler. The Zest Premio is available in two colours: Titanium Grey and Platinum Silver. Changes on the inside include a tan finished mid pad on the dashboard. There are no feature additions on the inside.
The Zest Premio is not available with the more powerful diesel or the turbopetrol engines. The diesel engine with the higher output is the same 1.3 liter Fiat Multijet unit but with a variable geometry turbocharger that boosts outputs to 89 Bhp and 200 Nm.
A 5 speed AMT is available as an option on this engine, which features a 5 speed manual as standard. The turbocharged petrol engine is the 1.2 liter Revotron unit that is tuned to produce 89 Bhp of peak power and 140 Nm of peak torque.
