The Land Rover Defender is a legendary name in the world of off-roading. It was initially launched 70 years ago and gained its reputation from the renowned Camel Trophy competition, which took place annually between 1980 and 2000. Nowadays, the Series 1 Land Rovers are scarce due to the fact that most of them were subjected to abuse while off-roading. However, there is one that is being driven by a teenage girl.

The teenage girl in the video is well-known in her area for being a Jeep enthusiast. Therefore, it makes sense that she is driving a 50-year-old Land Rover. She has a fondness for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers.
The Land Rover Series 1 in the video is finished in military green, and it is still in good condition. The video mentions that the SUV was originally equipped with a petrol engine, but many people have replaced it with a diesel engine because it produces more torque, which is essential for off-roading. As a result, the Series 1 was retrofitted with an engine from the Bolero, which delivers a fuel economy of 20 kmpl. The Land Rover’s body is constructed from aluminum, which helps to reduce weight. The vehicle’s tyre size is 15 inches.

In 2020, Land Rover made the decision to resurrect the iconic nameplate of the Defender. It was a significant risk, given the high expectations that came with it. Fortunately, Land Rover’s hard work paid off, and the SUV was very well received. We also had the chance to see the new Defender in the recent James Bond movie, No Time To Die.
The current generation of Land Rover Defender is vastly different from the Series 1 showcased in the video. For instance, the ladder-on-frame chassis has been replaced with a monocoque design. The monocoque design significantly improved the on-road behavior of the new Defender.
Land Rover still holds the old Defender in high regard, so they added a few elements that would remind you of it. For instance, there are circular LED Daytime Running Lamps and square LED tail lamps. Additionally, Land Rover brought back the iconic “Safari Windows” for the new Defender. They also decided to keep the same naming scheme, so the new Defender is available in two versions: the 110 and the 90. The 110 is the four-door model, while the 90 is the three-door model. Land Rover also introduced the 130 version, which comes with a third row of seats, a feature absent in the other two versions.
The current generation of Land Rover Defender has rapidly gained popularity among celebrities in India. The price for an all-new Defender starts at Rs. 91.80 lakhs ex-showroom and goes up to Rs. 2.30 crore ex-showroom. The SUV is available with both petrol and diesel engine options.
