Ten concept cars you want to see on Indian roads

Car manufacturers go all out to woo crowds at the Auto Expos by showing them wild & outlandish concept cars. Only some of them see the light of day. Here are ten concepts that we hope get into production.

Mahindra XUV Aero

The XUV Aero is a coupe-SUV crossover designed by Italian design firm Pininfarina (recently acquired by Mahindra). It takes inspiration from the BMW X6 which is what started the trend of the coupe -SUV crossover.

Why do we want it?

This will the first coupe-SUV crossover from an Indian manufacturer & given how Mahindra positions their vehicles, it could be a very stylish substitute to the XUV. The other impressive fact is that the mHawk engine produces a larger 210 Bhp & the vehicle has multiple suspension modes like Race, Off-road, Street & Sport.

Mahindra has hinted that this vehicle could come into production & if so, will be positioned as a more premium offering than the XUV500.

Mahindra E2O Sport

The E2O was always seen as an Eco-friendly car that saved the environment. This E2O Sport aims to do a little more than just that. This car has a wide body kit & has been lowered to give it an aggressive stance.

Why do we want it?

The main reason why we want this vehicle is due to the fire power it possess. Yes, the E2O sport, though only electric, makes a whopping 141 Bhp & can do a 0-100 sprint in 8 seconds. This is commendable. Not only that, Mahindra claims that the E2O sport can also manage to do 200 kms on a single charge, ofcourse if driven more sedately.

Mahindra Halo

The Halo is an electric sports car that was revealed at the 2014 Auto Expo. Mahindra has a Formula-E Racing team and it looks like technology is trickling down from there.

Why do we want it?

The Halo will be a Tesla Roadster to India. It is a very exciting product. The LEDs up front give it an aggressive look. The car reportedly has a top speed of 160 kmph with a range of 200 kms. On the inside, we have a touch screen system which shows up a lot of information regarding the car. We hope that the Halo does make it to production.

Renault Kwid Racer

The Renault Kwid has been in the market for a little while now. It has established itself as a funky & stylish alternative to the Maruti Alto 800. This concept, the Racer which was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo caught our eye though.

Why do we want it?

The Kwid Racer looks really appealing. The lowered stance, the 18 inch alloys & the sporty body kit make the car very appealing to look at. On the inside, there’s a roll cage with racing bucket seats, Alcantara & carbon in-lays to give it the sporty feel. Renault did not give any details on the engine, though we hope that they plonk a bigger engine into this if they plan on bringing it out.

Hyundai HND-14

The HND-14 (Carlino) is Hyundai’s sub 4 m SUV concept which was unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo.

Why do we want it?

If Hyundai brings in this SUV, it will take on the Ecosport, Vitara Brezza, the TUV & the Nuvosport. We know that Hyundai is very good at loading their products with a lot of features and also produce some striking designs. This will certainly give stiff competition to the Brezza if launched.
