India-bound Tesla Model 3: Key features explained

The famous electric car manufacturer Tesla is finally coming to India this year. Tesla recently registered itself as a company under the name Tesla India Motors and Energy Private Limited in Karnataka. Tesla has also named Vibhav Taneja, Venkatrangam Sreeram and David Jon Feinstein as three directors in the newly formed company in India. The first model that is expected to come to India this year is the Model 3 sedan. This is Tesla’s entry level model and few years ago, Tesla had also started accepting booking for this sedan in India. Here we have a video that shows what makes a Tesla different from regular cars or other EVs in the market.

The vlogger simply shows all the features of the Tesla Model 3 sedan which is likely to be the first model from the brand in India. Tesla Model 3 is a very good looking sedan from outside. It packs lots of features it starts with the key itself. Tesla Model 3 does not get a physical key. Instead, it comes with a smart cars which the driver has to tap on the B pillar to lock and unlock the car.

Once you are in, one would notice the clean design of the dashboard with no buttons on it. The only thing seen on the dashboard is a huge touchscreen system which controls almost all the functions inside and outside the car. The glove box, bonnet and boot, charging port all can be opened using the touchscreen on the dashboard. The charging port and boot can be opened manually as well. Only the power window buttons are visible on the door panel. There is a small button on the grab handle which can be used to open the door from inside.

The touchscreen on the central console, comes with inbuilt navigation and is also embedded with information regarding the nearest charging or supercharging station. The screen also shows current battery status, range and also lets driver set a limit on how much charge they want to charge the batteries. There is even a special mode called Dog mode which displays a message on the screen, if the owner leaves the dog or any pet inside the car.

The vlogger even shows the feature where he adjusts the air flow inside the cabin using the touchscreen. Tesla Model 3 gets heated seat function on all the seats and this is also controlled from the huge touchscreen. Apart from that, it get s large glass roof which makes the cabin look a lot more airy from inside. When Tesla comes to India, there is a possibility that we might miss out on some of these features. Tesla will be launching it in India as a CBU which means it will have a high price tag. Tesla Model 3 is expected to have a price tag of around Rs 60 lakh. If  in future, Tesla plans to manufacture Model 3 in India, the price will come down drastically.

Tesla Model 3 is available in different variants. The base version of Model 3 is powered by a  283 Bhp electric motor that generates a maximum of 450 Nm of torque. It can do 0-100 kmph in just 5.5 seconds and has a top speed of 210 kmph. This version has a claimed range of 350 kms on single charge. The top-end trim gets 450 Bhp electric motor that generates 639 Nm of torque. It can do 0-100 in 3.1 seconds and has claimed range of 500 kms.
