The Suzuki Swift is a global car and India is one of the biggest markets for this hatchback. Earlier this year, Maruti Suzuki introduced the all-new, 3rd generation Swift in India, and the car is already a mega hit with over 1 lakh units sold. The all-new Swift, like the Swift badged cars before it, is a fun to drive car. Here is an ad that emphasizes the Swift’s fun-to-drive character. In the ad, a man with a badly knackered first generation Swift slides his way into a Suzuki dealership, dropping off his old car and driving away in the all-new Swift. He makes it look quite dramatic by sliding around the new Swift while driving off from the dealership. Here, watch it for yourself.

The Swift that’s sold in India starts from Rs. 4.99 lakhs, ex-showroom, Delhi. The car is offered with two engine options, a 1.2 litre, K-Series naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.3 litre Fiat Multijet diesel. The petrol motor puts out 82 Bhp-113 Nm, and is a very smooth, rev-happy unit. The turbocharged diesel makes 74 Bhp-190 Nm and the strong suits of this engine are its punchy performance and excellent fuel efficiency. Both the petrol and diesel engines of the Swift get 5 speed manual gearboxes as standard. A 5 speed AMT is offered as an option with both engines. The Swift is front wheel driven.
Other key details about the new Swift is that it uses the HEARTECT platform, which cuts weight significantly thanks to use of lightweight, high tensile steel. Notably, the 3rd generation Swift is a lot lighter than the previous version, making it peppier and more fuel efficient. The all-new Swift gets roomier on the inside thanks to a longer wheelbase. However, the overall length of the car has decreased slightly, making it more compact than before. The Swift sold in India gets ABS and twin airbags as standard. Maruti also offers a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay on the top-spec variants.
