The upcoming Tata Altroz could be the best premium hatchback : Here’s why

If you are an auto enthusiast or aCartoq regular, we are sure you must have seen enough teasers and spy shots of Tata Motors’ upcoming premium hatchback, the Altroz. The car has already created a lot of buzz in the market and going by the initial sentiments on social space, this will be a sure shot trend setter and will set the market on fire.

Here’s why it could be the best premium hatchback, a segment that has offerings like the Maruti Baleno, Hyundai i20 and the Honda Jazz. Without further ado, lets dive deeper into five reasons why we think so:

1. Stand out design

Tata Motors showcased the near-production version at the Geneva Motor Show and the images left us with a grin on our faces. The Altroz, like its elder sibling the Nexon, looks sleek with an athletic stance. It follows the company’s Impact 2.0 design philosophy and stands out in the crowd of other hatchbacks.

Noticeable design elements include the long swooping headlamps, rising shoulder line, stylish alloy wheels and a horizontal black panel at the back that looks uber stylish.

2. Your premium space

Not only will the Altroz offer best-in-class rear legroom, it will also come with a spacious boot to accommodate all your needs for a weekend trip. Tata cars have always been known to provide that extra space for your friends and family members and this Altroz will be no different. But there is more to this car – this includes the modern layout of the cabin with a floating touchscreen interface and minimal buttons that give the cabin a clutter-free look.

As is the case with all other Tata products, the Altroz too will come loaded with features, including a fantastic audio set-up for audiophiles, classy multi-info display and driving modes, among other features.

3. Your safety net

Modern day car buyers seek safety over other parameters and Tata Motors understands this very well. Take for the case of the Nexon, which became India’s first car to receive a 5-star safety rating from GNCAP (Global New Car Assessment Program),which rates each car sold across the world on various parameters related to safety and crash tests.

We have a strong feeling that the Altroz will follow in the same footsteps, and become India’s second 5-star rated car as per GNCAP standards. This will surely infuse a lot of confidence in the mind of new car buyers.

4. It will be a fun car!

The Altroz will come with a pair of engines that will offer thrilling performance without sacrificing on low emissions or fuel economy.

TheAltroz will come with a 1.2L petrol BSVI compliant engine and 1.5L BSVI compliant diesel engine. The Altroz could be the only premium hatchback option to offer a diesel BSVI compliant engine option. And while doing so, it will return a fuel economy in access of 20kmpl! We can’t wait to get our hands on the Altroz later next month for a first hand experience!

5. Feature loaded

The Altroz is a premium hatchback and it does justify the ‘premium’ tag in terms of the features it will come with. These include a Harman-tuned audio set-up, a floating touchscreen infotainment system, multiple Airbags and even add-ons like automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers. Further, we appreciate the convenience features like true keyless entry with push button start and a cruise control too. The latter is something we all are using increasingly, thanks to ever improving infrastructure in India.

And while the feature list is long and impressive, our sources state that the Altroz will still end up undercutting all its rivals in terms of pricing. Icing on the cake, eh?
