India is a land of wonders, and most importantly desi wonders or “Jugaad”, as they are commonly known. However, the video below is not exactly that of a jugaad or a cheap fix, but a very thought-out passion project, which deserves a special mention. In the video, you can clearly see that the owner has completely revamped his Maruti Suzuki Gypsy. Despite being old, the car is still in pretty good condition. The engine has been completely removed from the front, and replaced with a pack of three batteries. These batteries power the whole car and a separate micro-controller is also present to take care of battery management.

Along with the battery, there is also an induction motor, which helps in moving the car forward. The owner seems to have designed the whole set-up by himself, which is really amazing. The cable management is very neat and clean looking. In spite of the installation of the three big batteries, things inside the hood looks well maintained. It’s not just the car but the rest of the set-up through which the owner charges his car, which is a mix of passion and environment friendliness.

Maruti Gypsy Electric Featured

The car’s battery is charged by a solar panel, which is connected to an inverter and a battery. The solar energy is converted into electrical energy and stored in the battery, which is then used to charge the car’s battery. The dedication and hard work of the owner has made his car a rolling labour of love, which is not only totally pollution-free but also one of a kind.

Maruti Suzuki Gypsy is about to go out of production. Unlike the car in the video, the conventional Maruti Suzuki Gypsy was powered by a 1298-cc 16-Valve G13BB MPFI petrol engine, which makes around 80 bhp and 103 Nm of torque.
