Mahindra Thar is an iconic vehicle in India. We have seen many transformations of the Thar in various forms in India. SP Designs has added one more variation to the Thar and has made it look brutish. Here is the craziest modification that you will ever come across of Mahindra Thar.
The extreme job done by the design house makes the Mahindra Thar unrecognisable. Every single part of the vehicle has been updated with customised panels. The Thar already has a towering stance, but this modified example makes it even more imposing. The modified Thar may look little outlandish, but it guarantees head turns every time you go out with the vehicle.
The vehicle gets Hummer-inspired front grille in silver colour plastic. The headlamps are now projectors and are housed within the front grille itself. The vehicle also gets customised fenders that are heavily flared, and the indicators are embedded in them.The bumper gets a plastic skid plate. The bonnet gets a sharp air-intake opening.

From the side, the Mahindra Thar based custom vehicle gets body coloured side-step. The car maintains its two-door layout, but the soft-top gives way to a proper hard-top roof. The ORVM holder gets side-indicators. SP Designs have used straight lines all over the body giving the vehicle a unique look.
The rear gets all-LED tail lamps with customised door. The spare wheel is mounted on the tailgate. There is a similar skid plate on the rear bumper too. The vehicle rides on 10.5-inch Maxxis Bighorn tyres that shroud the GT wheels.
On the inside, the biggest change is the front facing rear seat that replaces the side bench. The interiors get wrapped in diamond stitched leather making the whole experience very plush. The dashboard now gets a touch-screen infotainment while there is a big screen mounted on the roof for the rear passengers. The AC vents and the switches, however, remain the same. The steering has been updated to an after-market steering.
Overall, SP Design charges Rs. 8 lakhs, excluding the cost of the vehicle for this fully customised Thar. Well, under the hood, the mechanics remains the same. In all possibility, this is the CRDe version of the vehicle. The 2.5-litre engine produces a maximum of 105 Bhp – 247 Nm of torque and comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The car also features a 4X4 transfer case from BORGWARNER. It sure will attract people who want to go into extremely remote places shrouded in luxury.
