This Land Rover Defender is actually a Mahindra Bolero [Video]

The Mahindra Bolero, manufactured for the Indian market, is an incredibly popular utilitarian MUV. It holds the distinction of being one of the oldest models in Mahindra’s lineup, yet it continues to achieve remarkable sales figures. This is one of the reasons why Mahindra has refrained from making significant changes to the Bolero, opting instead to update it to comply with new emission and safety regulations. The market offers various modification options for the Bolero, some of which we have showcased on our website. In this captivating footage, the vlogger showcases a Mahindra Bolero 4×4 that has undergone a meticulous modification, resulting in a striking resemblance to a Land Rover Defender. It is worth noting that Punjab, known for its fondness for jeeps and SUVs, often serves as the hub for such remarkable vehicle transformations. The skilled craftsmen responsible for this particular project are from a renowned workshop called Big Daddy Modifiers, located in Jalandhar, Punjab. With their expertise and dedication, they have successfully metamorphosed a standard-looking Bolero into an impressive Land Rover Defender, utilizing meticulously crafted custom parts.

First and foremost, it’s clear that the SUV no longer bears any resemblance to a Bolero from any angle. The exterior has undergone a complete overhaul. Let’s start with the front, where a robust metal off-road bumper with a bull bar takes center stage. This bumper seamlessly integrates projector fog lamps, further enhancing its functionality. Notably, both the front grille and the headlamp covers are custom-made units meticulously crafted from metal, rather than utilizing fiberglass panels. As for the headlamps themselves, they have been replaced with aftermarket projector LED units, adding a modern touch. The fenders and bonnet have also been redesigned, resulting in an SUV that closely mirrors the aesthetics of a previous-generation Defender SUV.

The entire shell of the Bolero underwent significant modifications to achieve this transformation. The workshop went so far as to extend the length of the Bolero, resulting in a more proportionate appearance. Moreover, the SUV now boasts a noticeably increased height compared to the standard Bolero. This elevation is attributed to a 4-inch lift kit, while the stock wheels have been replaced with aftermarket off-road specification wheels paired with robust and rugged-looking tires.

Examining the side profile, we can observe Defender-inspired elements such as windows, doors, and quarter glass. Additionally, a metal footstep has been meticulously designed specifically for this SUV, adding both functionality and style. Finally, at the rear, the SUV has been thoughtfully redesigned to emulate the iconic aesthetics of the Defender, completing the overall transformation.

To ensure the door’s structural integrity, the spare wheel is mounted on the chassis using a dedicated mount, preventing the entire weight of the wheels from resting on the door. Additionally, the customer requested the removal of the third-row seats, allowing for the second-row seats to be pushed back, thereby creating more spaciousness within the vehicle.

The interior of this modified Bolero has undergone a complete overhaul. Both the door pads and dashboard have been adorned with a luxurious brown leatherette upholstery, adding a touch of elegance. Customized floor mats and roof liners have also been fitted, while the seats themselves have been expertly wrapped in leatherette material. Notably, the SUV is equipped with mounting points for an external roll cage, as demonstrated in the accompanying video. The skilled team at Big Daddy Modifiers dedicated approximately four months to complete this project, with the total cost of the modification amounting to approximately Rs 5 lakh.
