The Hyundai Elite i20 is among the most well-sorted cars in its segment. Among the chief highlights of this Korean hatchback is the high comfort-level that it offers. While the i20 offers an adequately powerful Diesel engine, the modified version we see here carries a set of updates that make the car really sporty, so much that it has even participated in a few autocross races.
The most significant performance modification for this car is the LMNTRIX Remap for the ECU. The engine now offers 120 HP and 275 Nm. To put things in perspective, the very capable Polo GT Diesel offers 104 bhp and 250 Nm from its 1.5-litre turbocharged Diesel motor. This Elite i20 also sports a BMC stock replacement air filter. Other than this, this i20 also carries a custom suspension kit from RAK Designs. Thanks to the new setup, the body roll has reduced by a huge margin. Also, the ground clearance has been increased from 170 mm to 200 mm. The factory-spec wheels have been replaced with Project D 16-inch alloy wheels shod with 195/55-spec MRF ZDM2 dirt tires.
In its stock avatar, the 1.4-litre motor of the i20 Diesel outputs a maximum power of 88.76bhp along with a peak torque of 219.66 nm. It comes with 14-inch wheels shod with 185/70-section tires. Hence, the modified version you see here offers a power gain of more than 33% along with a 25% higher torque. This one makes for quite a sleeper as the new alloys and painted calipers/brake drums are the only visual update it carries. This modified Hyundai Elite i20 comes in the Sportz trim. Hence it carries safety features like ABS, EBD, and dual front airbags.
Hyundai India launched the facelifted Elite i20 at the Auto Expo 2018. Prices of the premium hatchback start from Rs. 5.35 lakh for the petrol version and Rs 6.73 lakh for the Diesel model. The new car comes with styling updates for the front- and rear-end. All variants of the Elite i20 facelift get twin airbags and ABS as standard fare.
