The year 2024 is going to be a significant year for electric mobility. A number of automakers from the country will be launching their new electric vehicles, and most of them will be affordable options. Now, if you are on the lookout for a mass-market electric vehicle coming in 2024, then you have come to the right place. Here is the list of all the affordable EVs that will be coming out in 2024.
Tata Punch EV
One of the first affordable electric cars to be making its debut in India will be the Tata Punch EV. The electrified version of the Punch micro-SUV will be launched around February of this year. It has been recently confirmed that the company will be launching it around the Rs 9.5 lakh range. The exact powertrain information for this SUV has not been revealed at the moment, but most likely, it will be offered with an enhanced iteration of the Tata Tiago EV powertrain. It will get a 500 km range in a single full charge.
Tata Harrier EV
Next up on the line is the Harrier EV. According to reports, Tata Motors will be launching this EV SUV with a price tag of around Rs 22 lakh around June 2024. The Harrier EV will come equipped with a front-wheel-drive layout with an option for a dual-motor variant with an AWD layout. As for the battery pack, it will be getting a 60 kWh battery pack, which will offer it a range of more than 500 km.
Tata Curvv EV
The last affordable SUV to be launched by Tata Motors this year will be the Curvv EV. Like the Harrier EV, it will also be priced around Rs 22 lakh and will be launched by December of this year. The Curvv coupe SUV might come equipped with the Nexon EV facelift’s powertrain. This means that it could be offered with the same 30 kWh and larger 40.5 kWh battery packs. Currently, the Nexon EV facelift offers a 325 km and 465 km range in its MR (Medium Range) and LR (Long Range) variants.
Mahindra XUV300 EV
It has been reported that Mahindra Automotive could be launching the XUV300 EV in India. For those who may be confused, it is not the XUV400 EV. This will be a different model positioned to rival the Tata Nexon EV. The new XUV300 will boast a 35 kWh battery and align itself as a more affordable alternative to the existing XUV400 EV. As per the reports, it will be making its debut around February of this year.
Mahindra XUV400 facelift
Another one of the EV launches from Mahindra Automotive will include the XUV400 EV’s facelift. The company will be launching this SUV around the second half of 2024. It will come equipped with a brand new exterior design and a new interior as well. As for the powertrain side of things, it will come equipped with a front-mounted electric motor that generates 150 PS of maximum power and 310 Nm of maximum torque. It is also likely to continue offering the EC variant with a 34.5 kWh battery claiming 375 km of range, in addition to the EL variant that comes with a 39.4 kWh battery pack that claims to deliver 456 km of maximum range.
Mahindra XUV.e8
The Mahindra XUV.e8 will be the last EV SUV launch for the company in 2024. The electrified iteration of the XUV700 will be launched around December of this year. This new EV SUV will come equipped with an 80 kWh battery pack and an all-wheel-drive configuration with a dual-motor setup. According to reports, this powertrain will be able to generate a maximum of 230 PS and 350 Nm of torque.
Maruti Suzuki eVX
Maruti Suzuki India Limited will be launching its first-ever electric SUV in India around April of this year. The test mule sightings of this SUV have become frequent after the first eVX concept was showcased at the Auto Expo in 2023. The Maruti Suzuki eVX is expected to offer two battery pack options: a 48 kWh unit for the lower versions and a 60 kWh unit for the higher variants. This new EV SUV will come loaded with features like a large infotainment screen, 360-degree camera, ADAS, and more. The SUV is estimated to be priced at around Rs 23 lakh and above.
Hyundai Creta EV
Hyundai Motor India Limited is also gearing up to launch the EV version of its most popular compact SUV, the Creta. According to reports, the Creta EV will be launched around the second half of this year. Powering the Creta EV will be a 45 kWh battery pack, supplied by LG Chem, and it will also get a front axle-mounted electric motor which will generate approximately 138 bhp of power and a robust 255 Nm of torque.
Citroen C3 Aircross EV
Last but not least, the final SUV on this list is the Citroen C3 Aircross EV. The exact launch timeline has not been revealed for this SUV. However, it could be making its debut around the end of this year. It is being speculated that the company could be offering this new EV SUV with a bigger 40 kWh battery pack. As for the range, it could be offering around 400 km in a single full charge. Coming to the price range for this SUV, it could be launched at a price range of Rs 15 to 20 lakh.
