Mahindra jeeps are still common sight in many rural areas in India. It is often used to transport people and goods from one location to other. It is used specially on hilly regions where a normal rickshaw might not be very successful. Most of the time, drivers of these jeeps are very experienced but, like in any case there are exceptions here too. Many of them drive very rashly and that often leads to accidents. Here we have one such video where a Mahindra jeep carrying people topples around a corner.
The video has been shared by Manorama News on their YouTube channel and as per the report, the accident happened in Kerala’s Wayanad district. The whole incident was recorded in a CCTV that was installed in a shop on the road. In this video, a Mahindra Jeep can be seen coming through a road. There are people sitting in the jeep. It is evident from the footage that the jeep was being driven fast and as it reaches the turn, the driver turns the vehicles suddenly and regrets the decision immediately.

The jeep was too fast for the turn. So fast that the jeep toppled on the road after turning. There were people standing in front of the shops. They all quickly gathered around the jeep and starting rescuing passengers. The driver was the first person to come out and after that, he also started rescuing people. More people gathered to know what exactly happened and they all starting lifting the jeep. All of them started pushing the jeep and slowly the toppled jeep was back on the road with all four wheels on the road. As seen in the video, there were passengers sitting on the bench seats at the rear. They were in shock and did not realise what just happened. They can be seen sitting in front of one of the shops.
Luckily, none of the passengers were seriously injured. In this case, there was no other vehicle involved. It was purely, driver’s fault. He was driving the jeep too fast and that is what lead to this accident. If you may have noticed, he was not driving a low slung sedan or a hatchback to take corners aggressively. It does not look like the jeep was overloaded. If that was the case, then things might have got worse. The jeep seen here is a tall vehicle. We have learned that vehicles that are taller are unstable because of their higher center of gravity.
This is why it is not recommended to drive an SUV or a tall boy design car at high speeds around the corner. If you do so, this is what happens. The jeep seen here is a ladder on frame SUV and unlike a monocoque SUV, the body and the frame of the vehicles do not act in the same manner. All the weight had shifted to one side when the driver took that fast corner and that is the reason why driver lost control over the vehicle. When you are driving such vehicles, always slow down before taking a turn or corner.
