Toyota Baleno to all-new Corolla: 5 upcoming Toyota cars for India

Toyota Kirloskar India has become quite aggressive in its strategy and plans to launch an army of all-new cars in the market soon. Toyota wants to offer a wider choice of cars in the booming Indian market. Here are all the cars that the brand will launch in the Indian market in the coming years.

Toyota-badged Baleno

Expected launch: Mid-2019

Toyota and Maruti Suzuki have signed a deal under which both the manufacturers will share vehicles in the Indian market. Toyota-badged Maruti Suzuki Baleno will be the first product to come out of the joint partnership. Maruti will supply 25,000 units of the Baleno to Toyota in the first year. Toyota will change the vehicle slightly to give it the authentic Toyota look. We may see the upcoming Toyota badged Baleno with new bumpers, grille and maybe slightly redesigned headlamps. Toyota is expected to offer the same engine and transmission options as Maruti.

Toyota Corolla Altis

Expected launch: 2020

Toyota will launch the all-new Corolla Altis in the Indian market next year. It is expected to be showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. The all-new Corolla is based on the TNGA platform and it will be offered with a full-hybrid system. Internationally, it gets powered by a 1.8-litre petrol engine or a 2.0-litre petrol engine. The 1.8-litre engine comes with the hybrid engine and the same version is expected to be launched in the Indian market in the coming time. Toyota will share the next-generation of Corolla hybrid with Maruti Suzuki India.

Toyota-badged Vitara Brezza

Expected launch: Early 2020

Toyota will also launch the rebadged version of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza in the Indian market next year. Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza will help Toyota to enter the ever-expanding sub-4-m compact SUV segment, which is currently populated by numerous vehicles from Indian and international manufacturers. Toyota Vitara Brezza will get a new name and will also get changes that will make it look more like a Toyota vehicle. The engine and transmission options will remain similar to the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza SUV. Toyota is expected to launch the all-new car by early 2020.

Toyota Rush

Expected launch: 2022

Toyota is also working to launch an all-new compact SUV that will take on the likes of Jeep Compass in the market. Toyota is absent from the SUV segments below the Fortuner and is missing out on the sales. However, Toyota is expected to launch the all-new Rush in the Indian market that will carry a price tag between Rs. 15 lakhs to 20 lakhs. Since a long time, the Toyota Rush was rumoured to be launched in the Indian market and it seems like the vehicle will be launched in the coming years. Toyota will launch the all-new next-generation Rush, which is expected to get the hybrid system.

Toyota Avanza

Expected launch: 2022

Toyota Innova Crysta is the most successful vehicle from the brand in the Indian market. Toyota is in the final steps of approving the launch of the all-new Compact MUV in the Indian market that will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga in the market. The all-new Avanza is quite popular in the international market and it looks like the mini-Innova Crysta. As per Toyota, the all-new Avanza is expected to get a full-hybrid system, which will make it quite expensive in the market.
