Toyota is one of the biggest automobile manufacturers in the world. The Japanse automobile giant joined hands with Suzuki, which is another Japanese automaker for a strategic alliance to launch new cars in the market. The alliance is not limited to India but there will be a lot of cars that will launch under the Toyota badge in the Indian market soon. Here are all the cars and SUVs that are expected to be launched in India in the coming months.

Toyota Baleno

Expected launch: Mid 2019

The Toyota Baleno will be the first product from the partnership in the Indian market and it is expected to be launched later this year. The Baleno is the best-selling car in the segment and takes on the likes of the Hyundai Elite i20. Toyota’s version of the Baleno will be slightly different when it comes to the looks but the engine options will remain unchanged. Maruti will supply as many as 25,000 units of the Baleno to Toyota and the car will be launched with minimal changes like a new grille and new front and rear bumpers.

Toyota Ertiga

Expected launch: End 2019 – Early 2020

In a surprise move, Toyota will also sell a rebadged version of the all-new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga in the Indian market soon. Toyota’s most successful vehicle in the Indian market is the Innova, which is an MPV. It is quite possible that the Toyota-badged Ertiga will be able to pull in a large number of customers too. The Ertiga will also receive minor visual changes on the outside and inside to add the Toyota DNA and family look to the vehicle.

All-new Corolla Altis

Toyota will launch the all-new Corolla Altis in the Indian market next year. The D-Segment sedan is expected to be showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. The all-new Corolla is based on the TNGA platform and it will be offered with a full-hybrid system. Internationally, it gets two engine options: a 1.8-litre petrol engine and a 2.0-litre petrol engine. The 1.8-litre engine comes with the hybrid engine and the same version is expected to be launched in the Indian market in the coming time. Notably, Toyota will share the next-generation of Corolla hybrid with Maruti Suzuki India.

Toyota Ciaz

Expected launch: End 2019-Early 2020

Toyota will also sell the rebadged version of the highly popular Maruti Suzuki Ciaz in the Indian market. Maruti is currently working to launch the 1.5-litre diesel engine with the Ciaz and Ertiga. The all-new DDiS225 engine has been developed in-house by the brand and gets a six-speed manual transmission. Toyota will get to sell the new Ciaz, which will get powered by the all-new engine from Maruti Suzuki. The changes will be limited to the name, bumpers and grille of the vehicle. The interior may also get updated to make it look like a Toyota family vehicle.

Toyota Vitara Brezza

Scheduled launch: 2022

Toyota will also enter the sub-4m compact SUV segment in India with the help of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. It should be noted that the Vitara Brezza is expected to get an all-new model in 2022, which will be supplied to Toyota in India. In the African countries, Suzuki will start supplying the Vitara Brezza soon.

New C-MPV

Expected launch: 2020

Toyota and Maruti Suzuki will work together to develop an all-new C-MPV for the Indian market. The all-new MPV will be positioned between Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Toyota Innova Crysta in the Indian market. The details are not known but Toyota may add a hybrid or electric powertrain to the upcoming MPV.

Toyota Rush

Expected launch: 2020

Toyota is also working on a compact SUV that will take on the Jeep Compass directly in the Indian market. While many speculate that the upcoming compact SUV can be the Toyota Rush but there is no confirmation of the same. Currently, the Toyota Fortuner remains the most affordable SUV in the Toyota’s line-up and it is not very accessible to the mass-segment buyers. The all-new SUV will make the Toyota SUVs more affordable until the Toyota-badged Brezza arrives in the market.
