Toyota Fortuner costs more than Rs. 50 lakhs in Bangalore

Toyota recently launched the Legender 4×4 variant of the Fortuner at Rs. 42.33 lakhs ex-showroom. The on-road price of the SUV now crosses Rs. 50 lakh mark in Bangalore. The on-road price of the Toyota Fortuner Legender 4×4 in Bangalore is Rs. 53.43 lakhs. Earlier, the Legender variant of the Fortuner was only offered with a 4×2 powertrain, it is priced at Rs. 38.60 lakhs ex-showroom.

As we can see from the screenshot, the two major factor that increases the costs are the RTO and insurance. The RTO alone costs a massive Rs. 8.70 lakhs. For this much money, you can buy a compact SUV. Then there is insurance that costs Rs. 1.94 lakhs. Other factors are Road Safety tax of Rs. 1,000, Tax Collected at Source or TCS of Rs. 42,330, Hypothecation Charges of Rs. 1,500 and FASTag of Rs. 500.

The Legender is offered only with a diesel engine. It is the same tried and tested 2.8-litre unit that was retuned for 2021. The engine now puts out 204 PS of max power and a peak torque output of 500 Nm. It comes only with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. You can get it as a rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.

Other variants of the Fortuner are also offered with a manual gearbox mated to a diesel engine. You can get them as 4×4 or 4×2 as well. There is also a petrol engine on offer. It is a 2.6-litre unit that produces 166 PS of max power and 245 Nm of peak torque. It is also offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

Fortuner Legender

The Legender variant comes with more features and cosmetic upgrades than the regular Fortuner. It gets a Lexus inspired front grille. Because of the new grille, the Legender variants look a lot more aggressive. The grille surrounds are finished in piano-black and get integrated with the headlamps which get quad-LEDs. There are also waterfall LED Daytime Running Lamps. The headlamp units are different from the ones that are offered on regular variants of the Fortuner.

Other changes include a different rear bumper and sequential turn indicators. It also gets 18-inch machined alloy wheels. The Legender is offered only in a single paint scheme of white body colour with black roof. The interior also looks more up-market because of the maroon and black theme. You also get contrast stitching on the console box and steering wheel.

Toyota has also added some features to the Legender. It comes with ambient lighting, a wireless charger, rear occupants get their own USB port to charge their mobile devices, ventilated seats for the front row and a Kick Sensor for the electric tailgate. Moreover, Fortuner now comes with a new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It is connected to 11 speakers, an amplifier and a subwoofer sourced from JBL in the Legender variants. It also gets connected car technology and different lighting for the instrument cluster.
