Toyota Fortuner Legender 4x4 launched at Rs 42.33 lakh ex-showroom

Toyota has launched the new top-end variant of the Fortuner SUV. It is the Legender 4×4 and it has been priced at Rs. 42.33 lakhs ex-showroom. It is offered only with the diesel engine mated to an automatic transmission only. Before this, the Legender variant was only offered with a 4×2 powertrain.

It gets a more aggressive-looking Lexus inspired front grille finished in piano-black. The surrounds of the grille integrate neatly with the Quad-LED headlamps. There are also LED Daytime Running Lamps that Toyota says are inspired by a waterfall. It also gets sequential turn indicators.

There are 18-inch machined-cut alloy wheels and a dual-tone paint scheme with a blacked-out roof. The interior also gets a dual-tone theme of black and maroon which gives an up-market feel. What adds a premium touch to the cabin is the contrast stitching on the steering wheel and console box.

Toyota’s new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system comes connected to 11 speakers with a subwoofer sourced from JBL. There is ambient lighting on the instrument panel, front door and footwell area. Now, you also get a wireless charger and a rear USB port. Toyota has also added a Kick Sensor for the electric tailgate and ventilated seats for the front row.

Engine and gearbox

Toyota offers the Legender with only the 2.8-litre diesel engine that produces 204 PS of max power and 500 Nm of peak torque. It is offered with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox only. You have an option to get it as a rear-wheel drive or a four-wheel drive. The 4×2 Legender is priced at Rs. 38.61 lakhs ex-showroom whereas the 4×4 Legender costs Rs. 42.33 lakhs ex-showroom.

Other variants of the Fortuner are also offered with the same diesel engine but you can get them with a manual gearbox also. There is also a 2.7-litre petrol engine on offer that produces 166 PS of max power and 245 Nm. It is offered with a manual gearbox or an automatic gearbox. The petrol engine is not offered with a 4×4 drivetrain.
