We are all aware of the fact that Japanese car manufacturer Toyota has been testing a facelifted version of their popular SUV Fortuner in India. It has already been launched in international markets and is expected to be launched in India soon. The facelifted version of Fortuner gets cosmetic changes so that it can competes with the likes of Ford Endeavour and recently launched MG Gloster in the segment. Internationally, Toyota is also offering another version of Fortuner by the name Legender. It is slightly different from the regular Toyota Fortuner and according to ACI, Toyota is preparing to launch the much more premium Legender version of Fortuner in India. Toyota is expected to launch Fortuner Legender in first half of 2021.
The Legender version as mentioned above, is a much more premium looking version of regular Fortuner. While the regular Fortuner gets minor cosmetic updates, the Legender version gets much more than that. In comparison to the regular Fortuner, Legender has a much more sporty or aggressive styling. The front grille is split in half with Toyota logo on top and a huge air intake on the lower bumper.

The bumper is slightly redesigned and looks a bit more muscular and sharp. The fog lamps are placed on either side of bumper with black coloured garnish around it. The headlights have the same design but, the DRLs inside get an all-new design along with LED projector headlamps. The turn indicators are LED and are placed on the lower part of the bumper. It even gets a gloss black skirting around front bumper along with a silver coloured skid plate underneath.
Moving to the side profile, the main change is the large 20 inch wheels. The regular Fortuner gets 18 inch alloy wheels. The design on alloy wheel is also expected to be different from regular version. Moving to the rear, Legender gets a slightly redesigned bumper along with reflector lamps on them. The split tail lamps are now LED and apart from that no major design changes are there on Legender.
On the inside, Legender would get the updated touchscreen infotainment screen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 360 degree camera, wireless charging, multi function steering wheel, dual tone seats, handsfree boot opening and so on. The top-end variants might also offer features like Lane departure warning system, radar guided cruise control too.
Coming to the engine and transmission, Toyota is likely to bring the updated 2.8 litre diesel engine to India. This won’t be just powering the Legender but, the regular Fortuner too. The updated diesel engine generates a maximum of 204 Ps and 500 Nm of peak torque. There is a smaller 2.4 litre diesel engine that is currently available with BS6 Innova Crysta, it is not known whether Toyota will offer that engine with Fortuner facelift. Other than the diesel engine, Fortuner is available with a 2.7 litre petrol engine too.
The Fortuner Legender version is a premium looking version of the regular Fortuner and for that very same reason, it will be a bit more expensive than regular Fortuner. According to ACI, Legender is expected to be priced around Rs 43 lakhs which will be almost Rs 9 lakh more than regular Fortuner. Toyota will be selling both the models through Toyota dealerships across the country.
