Toyota Fortuner owner experiences the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny for 4,000 Kms

Maruti Suzuki showcased Jimny SUV in India for the first time last year at the Auto Expo. It is one of the most anticipated SUVs from Maruti Suzuki. Maruti is currently manufacturing the Jimny in India but, it is only for export purposes. India is expected to get a four door version that is more suitable for Indian conditions. In international markets, Suzuki Jimny is a very popular compact 4×4 SUV. Here we have a video where a Toyota Fortuner shares his experience with the Suzuki Jimny in Iceland after driving it for over 4,000 kms.

The video has been shared by Technology Rig on their YouTube channel. Vlogger has always been a fan of Gypsy and that is why when he was given an option to rent a car in Iceland he opted for Jimny. It is one of the anticipated products from Maruti Suzuki in Indian market. The overall design of the SUV remains boxy and looks purpose built. The design of Suzuki Jimny is simple and that is what makes it special as well.

The vlogger drove the SUV for over 4,000 kms and then shares his experience. The seats on the Jimny felt pretty comfortable as per the vlogger. It reminded him of Swifts front row seat. As Jimny is a 2 door SUV, accessing the rear seat is a task and even if you manage to sit at the rear, there is not enough legroom for an adult. The car offers sufficient space for 2 adults and children.

It offers some boot space with second row seats up and this can be increased by simply folding the rear seats. In terms of engine, the vlogger felt that Suzuki could have done a bit more. It is powered by a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 102 Ps and 130 Nm of torque. It is available with a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission option. Vlogger felt that Suzuki could have offered a turbocharged engine with the SUV.

Vlogger felt that the Suzuki could have offered a 6-speed gearbox as in highways, the engine tends to rev high even at cruising speeds. This results in more engine noise along with tyre noise filtering into the cabin affecting the overall experience. Vlogger mentioned that the cabin feels airy and offers ample amount of headroom and legroom for tall persons. Vlogger drove the car continuously for over 10 hours a day and it did not feel tiring at all.

He was very impressed with the Jimny and said Suzuki has managed to make this 4×4 SUV handle like a car. He felt that the Suzuki Jimny is a fun to drive 4×4 SUV. He added that when Jimny will come to India, it might have a price tag of around Rs 10-15 lakh and for that amount, there are other capable SUVs like Thar and Force Gurkha available in the market. Maruti will have to make certain changes to the car to make it more appealing or different from the crowd without loosing its character.
