Kerala is not just god’s own country but also ‘mods own country’. The sheer variety of modified cars coming out of Kerala is why we’re calling it that. Today, we take a look at five of Kerala’s best modified SUVs. From off roaders to compact SUV, modders of this state have it all figured.
Mahindra Thar
This Mahindra Thar belongs to Danish_BVE and is one of the best looking examples in the country. Clean lines complement the butch looks, and the electric blue paint job is striking. The paint job really makes the Thar stand out from the sea of black, grey and forest beige coloured Thars that dominate the Indian roadscape.
Talking about the various mods on this machine, you have a Wrangler-style hard top, projector headlamps, ARC carbon fiber leaf springs at the rear along with Ironman off road dampers, Off-Road Bumpers , 15 inch 10.5J Steel Rims wrapped in 33” Maxxis 764 M/T tyres and modified fenders.
Toyota Fortuner
Toyota knows that Indians love chrome, which is why the automaker splatters its vehicles with chrome, almost everywhere. Here’s a Fortuner from Kerala that’s gone subtle, minus all that chrome. And the end result is a classy looking SUV, yet with all the macho appeal intact. This Toyota Fortuner has been done up by Perfamana.
Changes include bumper inserts at the front and rear, thorough de-chroming, a TRD front grille that adds a dash of sportiness and a black contrast wrap for the roof. On the inside, the seats have been appointed in plush, brown coloured leather. Mechanicals remain untouched.
Isuzu V-Cross
This is easily the most recognizable Isuzu V-Cross pick up trucks of India, and it belongs to a photographer called Abin Babs Abraham. Done up by Grid7 Customs, almost everything about this pick-up truck has been customized using top drawer accessories and aftermarket parts. The biggest change is a body lift that gives this truck its imposing stance.
This V-Cross rides on massive 305 /70 section Cooper all terrain tyres that are mounted on 16 inch Lenso Zeus Camel rims. The fenders have been customized to accommodate the extra width of the tyres. Other changes on the pick-up truck include PIAA LED Auxiliary Lamps, light bars, aftermarket LED Tail Lamps, Aeroklas Bed Liner and a chrome delete package.
Ford Endeavour
The Ford Endeavour is a big, butch SUV even in stock form. AutoBacs of Kollam have just given this luxury SUV the ‘stance beans’. And as the picture reveals, you have a beastly transformation rippling with muscle. Changes are extensive to say the least.
Up front, you have an aftermarket Raptor grille, Raptor body kit and the roof mounted lamps. Both the front and rear suspension units are from the aftermarket. The front suspension is from Black Rhino and is 15-step adjustable. The rear suspension is from HOTBITS and is 19-step adjustable. The SUV also gets aSun 4X4 2.0-inch drop kit while the dampers all around are from Ironman.
Ford EcoSport Low Rider
This Ford Ecosport goes wide and low, and takes a route that most SUVs would rather avoid.. The first change that you see is the Raptor style new grille, add a massive FORD badge. The SUV also has aftermarket projector headlamp. On the inside, there are a lot of changes. The biggest change is a new ICE (in car entertainment), including a new touch screen system with better speakers and woofers. The upholstery is now finished in leather and the trim is now finished in yellow instead of the silver.
