Ever since its launch in 2009, the Toyota Fortuner has consistently been the best-selling SUV in its segment, outperforming all of its competitors. Its imposing appearance, significant road presence, and bulletproof reliability have earned it a reputation as one of the most dependable SUVs on the market. In fact, even after 14 years, some of the first-generation models are still going strong. Recently, an owner of a 2009 Toyota Fortuner decided to give his trusty SUV a complete makeover, converting his type 1 Fortuner into a type 2 model, and a video of the process was recently shared online.

The video, uploaded by Autorounders on their YouTube channel, showcases the conversion of this first-generation Toyota Fortuner. The shop is renowned for performing similar conversions and facelifts on popular cars in the country, with the Toyota Innova and Fortuner being amongst the most commonly serviced. The video commences with the shop’s owner introducing the topic of the conversion of a 2009 type 1 Toyota Fortuner. He acknowledges that the Toyota Fortuner is one of the most reliable SUVs in the market, and it is a vehicle that owners are reluctant to part with. Furthermore, whenever a long journey or road trip is in the cards, Toyota cars are the preferred choice.

The presenter then mentions that the owner of this particular car had no intention of selling it and instead opted for a complete makeover, converting it from a type 1 to a type 2 Fortuner. He states that the owner sought a stock look and nothing over-the-top. The presenter further explains that to accomplish this task, they had to replace around 18-20 parts on the type 1 Fortuner, including the front and rear bumpers, headlights, taillights, front grille, fenders, and other aesthetic components. He notes that they used aftermarket parts, which were imported from Malaysia, but if customers request, genuine Toyota parts could be arranged at a considerably higher cost.

In the video’s next segment, the shop owner discusses the car’s paint, stating that the owner chose an elegant white shade. The presenter adds that their shop uses one of the most premium quality paints, namely the German Glasurit brand, which is utilized by premium luxury carmakers such as Porsche, Audi, BMW, and Mercedes. He emphasizes that all of the materials used in their shop are of high quality, and they employ some of the most skilled craftsmen to provide excellent results.

The video then showcases the completed car, with the presenter conducting a walkaround and pointing out all of the changes made to it. He states that the front fascia has been entirely changed, with aftermarket LED headlamps being installed. Additionally, the side mirrors were changed, imported from Taiwan, and the alloy wheels have been replaced with genuine type 2 Fortuner wheels that were painted black. He then shows the back of the car, highlighting the changes made to the rear bumper, Fortuner name strip, and taillights.
