The model is also renowned for its bulletproof reliability and resale value. Due to these reasons, a ton of people are now choosing to convert their old Fortuners to resemble newer variants instead of selling them. Recently, a video showcasing the conversion of a Type 3 Toyota Fortuner into a Legender has been shared on YouTube.
The video of the Type 3 Toyota Fortuner conversion into a Legender has been shared on YouTube by Brotomotiv, a shop known for their expertise in such conversions and paintwork. They have applied some of the most unique-looking colors on popular Indian cars. Next, the parts are shown arriving at the shop, and the technicians carefully test fit all the panels and check the functioning of all electronics, such as lights. Moving on, they begin the dent removal process. They remove all the dents and then apply primer to the car. The shop owner explains that automakers perform facelifts to recoup the development costs spent on producing a particular vehicle. He states that automakers provide facelifts to cars to maintain sales due to the refreshed appearance. He further mentions that as long as the facelift parts are plug and play, it is easy and worthwhile to perform facelifts on old cars.
The car then proceeds to the paint booth. The presenter adds that the car will be repainted from silver to pearl white, which is known as the Sonic Quartz color. He explains that Sonic Quartz is a Lexus-specific color that contains an abundance of pearl, resulting in a distinct and premium look. He also notes that standard brands typically charge anywhere between Rs 2000-3000 for pearl paint, while Lexus and other high-end colors can cost anywhere between Rs 30,000-35,000. After painting, the car undergoes reassembly.
The presenter also mentions that facelift jobs, in general, are easy because most of the parts are plug and play. However, some people request a complete transformation of their car into a newer model, which is a difficult task and not recommended. He advises against altering structural parts during a facelift as it can compromise the car’s safety and lead to rusting issues in the future. After giving this piece of advice, the video shows the completed car with full paint correction and ceramic coating.
