Toyota Fortuner vs Mahindra Scorpio N in a classic drag race [Video]

Mahindra launched the all-new Scorpio N in the market recently and just like Thar and XUV700, it became an instant hit in the market. The bookings for the all-new Scorpio N has already started and deliveries for the same is expected to start in coming months. As test drives for the Scorpio N has started in various cities, we are seeing more videos related to the SUV online. Walkaround videos of the Scorpio N are available online and here we have a video where Mahindra Scorpio N competes with a Toyota Fortuner SUV in a drag race.

The video has been uploaded by KHULLA SHER on their YouTube channel. In this video vlogger drives a Mahindra Scorpio N and conducts a drag race with a pre-facelift Toyota Fortuner. It should be noted that the Fortuner seen here in the video is not available in the market anymore. It generated 169 bhp and 343 Nm of torque from the 2.8 litre turbocharged diesel engine. The Mahindra Scorpio N seen here in the video is probably a petrol automatic variant. The vlogger does not speak anything about the engine spec in the video.

Before drag race, vlogger drives the SUV for some distance to get a hang of it. The car was then lined up for the race. He mentions that the engine feels very refined and there are no vibrations, even while it is doing triple digits. The vlogger was driving the Scorpio N and his friend was driving the Fortuner. The race started and Fortuner took the lead immediately. Vlogger moved off the line a bit late. It looked like the Toyota Fortuner was going to win the first round. After few metres, Mahindra Scorpio N started picking up speed and the gap between both the SUVs started coming down. After few seconds, Mahindra Scorpio N overtakes Fortuner and won the first round.

The Fortuner driver then tells vlogger that he was driving the SUV in Eco mode and that is why it was not performing well. In the second round, Fortuner was switched to Power mode and the Scorpio N petrol does not have any drive modes. So the vlogger simply turned the AC off. The race started and once again, the Fortuner got a good start and it moved off the line pretty quickly. Scorpio N also moved quickly but, it was not as aggressive as the Fortuner. Just like the first round, Fortuner was pretty well initially. After few metres, the Scorpio N started gaining speed and overtakes the Fortuner to win the race. Scorpio N was announced as the winner of the race.

Third round would have also had similar results but, Fortuner driver took off the start line early. The road on which they were doing the drag race was not long enough to catch up with Fortuner and then win the round. Vlogger mentions that he is blown away by the performance of the Scorpio N. He also sits in the second and third row of Scorpio N and shares his thought. He mentions that the third row seats are better in Fortuner. It should be noted that the Fortuner seen here is the pre-facelift model and if it was the current version, then results might have been different.
